I think that school is killing creativity in certain ways because of how we have limits on certain activities and when we have so much home work we cant do the creative things like drawing or skateboarding and that is the way we show our creative side and if we are not able to do those creative things then we start loosing our creativity. When I was younger I had a lot more creativity then I do now, I now have more homework and have more school things to do so I don’t get to use my creativity as much, school does kill creativity.

I agree with Sir Ken Robinson's video presentation. In school, we get all of these asignments that have certain requirements on it, so we are afraid to mess up on it, so we don't get too creative with it. And students get constant homework every night, that it becomes a regular routine for the students to go home and do homework. And that is all we ever do during our time at home: work on homework. If we didn't get homework every day, then people would have so much free time to do whatever they wanted. And we sit in school in our chairs for about an hour, not able to get out of our seats. That could be tough on some people who are kinesthetic learners. But on the other hand, schools offer art classes and other related art classes. So the students aren't losing all of their creativity.

I believe that Mr. Robinson has brought up a great point. Young children truly start life out creative and fresh. School does have its great benefits, but often kills everyone's sides of creativy. Art is the only creative class, and in high school it is not an offered as often. Shouldn't learning be fun? I feel more artistic and creative classes should be required to open up the imagination of young students.

I think that schools ARE killing creativity. I can remember bieng a lot more artsy fartsy when i was younger. Also, everything seems so strict to the way things are done. For example, sometimes teachers only teach teh same way over and over or they always have you write essays. I also think that the amount of time school takes away from time to be creative.

I would have to agree with Sir Ken Robinson on some of his views about schools killing creativity. There are rules and things you can and cannot do inside of class that may not suit you as a person. Some people love to draw and doodle in class, but teachers may get mad and punish them because they are not on task. However, not all creativity is 'killed' in school. There are drawing classes and other classes that are available where you can express your talents and creativity in a free, open way. It all depends on who you are as a person, and how school affects you.

I have to say that Sir Ken Robinson’s viewpoints are true in some perspectives. School has rules, limits and is very scheduled. Many people use school to their advantage and can function very efficiently with their work. But many other people have to be doing something creative in order to be able to excel in their studies. School limits their possibilities and fractures the possibility of learning a vast amount. Many children seem to be more creative, but schools do offer art classes t o give a choice to students who do have this passion. If the world didn't have school think about how different our world would be and the intelligence lost would be extraordinary. I think that school does kill creativity in some ways but the way we are working now is rather progressive.

School completely destroys creativity because teachers don't understand that when they give so much homework there is absolutly nothing we can do unless we don't do our homework. Also when we have no way to participate in activities/sports that we enjoy they don't realize we drop them or forget about them because we are always so exhausted or even giving up on life because we have so much stuff that must be completed to show our intelegance level when in all actuallity everybody is just as smart all we are proving is that some people are better at some acedimics when others are very athletic and outstanding in sports. All the schools are doing is ruining our chance to be unique.

i think that school is creating certain creativities and also damaging others. when you look at younger kids who havent been enrolled in school yet, they have all this natural creativity that they actually want to have, but when you look at older kids who have been in school for awhile, their creativity levels arent really the same beacuse they have been forced to try and be creative or else they get a bad grade. so that person may be pressered into their project or whatever they are working on beccause they are being graded so harshly. they feel like they have to be right so they may not be as creative as they wanted to be. i strongly agree with Sir Ken Robinson's video, i think that he made a very strong point with the fact that in some ways school really does kill creativity. school and teachers are overworking us, limiting our creativity levels. but in other ways its helping us because its allowing us to try (or be forced into doing) something that we never would have done and being creative in ways that we never thought we could do.

The higher Archie of subjects belittles careers such as art, dance, and music, but as opposed as we are and despite our denial of it without education in math, science, English and technology we would not be capable of functioning in today’s society. Our society that is obviously addicted to technology would come to a screeching halt without the knowledge we have in math and science today. It is imperative that we get a strong education in the arias of math and science not because we want to kill the creativity of students but to ensure that they are prepared to successfully function in our society. Creativity is needed in all sorts of fields from music and art to science and math. Do you not think that creativity was needed in order to create an ipod? Well of course we need to be creative to invent something like that but what about the math and science behind that as well? Do you not think that that person was creative? Or course they were! Creativity, math and science go hand in hand every day. We need knowledge and understanding to apply our ideas today and without proper education we would not be able to create the incredibly creative and remarkable technology that we have today.

Art class in not the only class that is creative! We have developed a narrow-minded definition of creativity. We see creativity as drawing a picture or writing as song but in reality you have to be just as, if not more, creative to solve a world problem like the energy crises or build a new type of bridge that has never been made before. When you work in science you are inventing and discovering phenomena’s that have never been seen or even imagined! Don’t you think you would require a little more creativity to do that than to draw a house?

When you were four years old before your young and creative mind was corrupted and destroyed by school you could draw an incredibly creative stick figure and a house similar to the other child sitting next to you drew. When you go through years of schooling that has now destroyed your creativity you can draw an amazing picture of anything you want unlike anything anyone else has drawn. Without the schooling you would not have matured you talents and abilities to draw something of this stature. Schooling is there to mature your talents, with out education you will not progress further or even stand still you will regress! Drawing a stick person over and over will NOT get you further in art doing what you want to do such as draw the for mentioned stick person will only bore you and discourage you from drawing. When you learn more forms of art and more skills you will be challenged and will enjoy art. Without the challenge education prepossess you will not progress at all. In schooling you will learn many skills that can further develop your talents. You will be taught the skills you need in order to use your creativity. School is NOT killing creativity it is only giving us a method of using it.

I really enjoyed Sir Ken Robinson’s presentation. He is absolutely right about school killing creativity. I love art, and color and creative activities. I am not one who finds school necessarily enjoyable all the time. I struggle with math and history, and those two subjects are not artistic. I have drawing and diving and I excel in those. They express me. I have a hard time doing work when it limits me with structures and patterns. I love writing, poetry especially, but first I have to have inspiration, and a lot of that comes from my art. I do not want to be a robot to the school system. I want to change things for the better, and for the kids that are more right brained. I learn with my hands, and I am very visual. I would absolutely love if schools changed and became equal with right and left brained people.

P.S. Sir Ken Robinson was hilarious! I really enjoyed his presentation and what he's fighting for.

In my personal opinion, Sir Ken Robinson's statement is quite relevant and true. It is hard to find a school these days that allows complete creative thinking connected with normal curriculum.

No matter what you say to those rediculus, unnerving teachers, they will not change their minds about allowing freedom in their schools. They just don't understance how important creativity is in the modern world is. Besides, they won't be teaching the children real life skills if they don't allow some form of creativity. Jobs usually look for a skilled mind to incorporate their businesses.

Schools do kill creativity because in most classes, the students only sit there and listen to the teacher lecture on and on about things. Schools wouldnt kill creativity if there were more hands on and fun learning activities. That way we are learning and not killing our creativity. School is all about grades and I think that is what really kills creativity because we write and complete assignments to the best of our ability just for a better grade so as not to fail. If there were no grades, students wouldn't be pressured to get the assignment done, but we don't lose our creativity.
