"September saw a month of tears
And thankin' God that you weren't here
To see me like that
But in a box beneath my bed
Is a letter that you never read
From Three summers back
It's hard not to find it all a little bittersweet
And lookin' back on all of that, it's nice to believe"- Taylor Swift
This relates to poetry because it is a story that is told different ways. There are many ways you can interpret it. Such as, how big an impact events and people have on your life.

"The truth is hiding in your eyes
and it's hanging on your tongue
just boiling my blood"

Metaphor- The lyrics compare anger to boiling blood but do not use like or as.

"Dont worry about a thing,
Cause every little thing is gonna be alright,
Rised up this mornin'
Smiled with the risin sun'
Three little birds
Pitched by my doorstep
Singing sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true"
~Bob Marley~
This i think, deffintly relates to poetry because its a bunch of small words put together to paint a greater picture. and although it may sound so simple, it has a deeper meaning inturpreted into it and actually has a big effect on alot of people.

"At our still lives posed
Like a bowl of oranges
Like a story told by the fault lines and the soil"
Bright Eyes

This is actually the chorus of the song using a pretty huge similie in the biggest part of the song. Its talking about how posed everybody's lives are, using the universal posed subject of a basket of fruit.

"it rains in your bedroom and everything is wrong, it rains when your here and it rains when your gone."
~Taylor swift~

metephor- i think she is comparing her life to her "bedroom" so when she says "it rains in your bedroom" She's saying her life is gloomy and sad

"Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Paying anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on"
Jorney AMAZING
this is potrey because it is tellling something he belives but he puts it in to song it tells you how life goes some "some will win some will lose"tells that you dont always win in life. ANd it will go on and on and on untill your time comes.

"All coiled up and hising"- Reo speedwagon. The importance behind this simple line is that the singer is trying to find a deeper meaning for every thing but he is not finding any results.

"Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone, I'll be waiting all theres left to do is run. You'll be the prince and i'll be the princes. It's a love story, baby, just say yes." -Taylor Swift
I think that this is a metaphor because she is comparing her love to Romeo and Juliet's. She is telling how she feels by comparing her love life.

"Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls just want to have fun."

Cyndi Lauper, Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

She Is using a metephor, she wants to shine an show everyone who she is and not let some silly boy stop her.

"Look in my eyes, what do you see?
The cult of personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you want to be
I'm the cult of personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
I'm the cult of personality"

The Cult of Personality - Living Colour

This relates to poetry because of how several poems relate to things that have occured in history. Just like how music does the same thing. Whether it discusses a war, or an election, even who people use to claim as "heroes."

"Become another casualty of society
I'll never fall in line
Become another victim of your conformity"-Sum 41. This part of the lyrics show a deep conflict. The writer doesn't want to grow up to become someone he doesn't want to be. He's afraid to show what he can do, he is scared of what growing up will do to him.

"Losing you is like living in a world with no air"

No Air by Jordin Sparks

This can relate to poetry because she's using similes to try and describe how she feels.

Fifteen "Take a deep breath and you walk through the doors
It’s the morning of your very first day
You say hi to your friends you ain’t seen in a while
Try and stay out of everybody’s way
It’s your freshman year and you’re gonna be here
For the next four years in this town" By Taylor Swift
This relates to poetry because its taking something from real life and it rhymes at some points in the song. Also there are many ways everyone can view this song.

We're the therapists pumping through your speakers
Delivering just what you need
We're well read and poised
We're the best boys
We're the chemists who've found the formula
To make your heart swell and burst
No matter what they say, don't believe a word - Fall Out Boy

This can relate to poetry because they sing to I beleive make you feel better, they sing to take the the person feel relaxed. And when they say don't beleive a word, they might mean that you should not beleive what people say.

“Because these things will change
Can you feel it now?
These walls that they put up to hold us back will fall down
This revolution, the time will come
For us to finally win” Taylor Swift

The metaphor of people putting up “walls” to keep her back demonstrates how you have to overcome obstacles and break the walls/barriers. It represents how there are struggles that you have to defeat even if other people don’t want you to, and that things will change and you won’t always lose or be overpowered.

"Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh"

the oh oh oh part is onomonopia(spelled wrong, and the lyrics are metaphor, as one's life is being compared to a book without using like or as.

"Show me how to lie You're getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art thats hard to teach. Another clever word Sets off an unsuspecting herd And as you step back into line A mob jumps to their feet"- opening lyrics to You're gonna go far, kid, by The Offspring. this interprets (from the narrator)that the your really good at convincing people to join you and they will follow what ever you believe. This reminds me of Hitler. and how far in life you can get if you're convincing.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it,
Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,

This relates to poetry because it explains the hardships and tasks relating to the creation of a song. But when thought about differently it could explain the proscess of creating a poem

"..And we'll all float on all right
all ready we'll all float on even if things get heavy we'll all float on....."

This relates to poetry because it has a deeper meaning than what is shown or said.
