from this discussion i got that there are several ways to interpret this poem. some people say it was a flashback to when he was fifteen and it was just something that happened, and others said that it was a flashback to when he was fifteen and that the guy on the motor cycle was him self.
Some memorable comments were distributed by Mr. Lillmars when he stated to always trust yourself because you can never know what's going to happen next. I gathered information including the plot and what this poem was about and it was about a guy who was having a flashback on what happened to him when he was 15, hence the title of the poem.
I didnt really get much from the poetry. I thought it was pretty odd with the repetition of the last line. I also think the title could of been changed to something different, more attention grabing.
i think the poem was mostly about an experience the author had when he was fifteen. the repetition of lines made it clear that maybe he was too young to witness such a thing.
In our Socratic discussion I was still unsure of the boy in the beginning did he really want to steal it? Did he really think that it was no ones? Also i still don't know what the theme and attitude of the poem is?
the stuff that i understood more after the discussion is what the whole story was about. i don't really think there were any memorable comments because they were all silly comments.
Our group wasn't exactly very talkative, so i didn't learn much. They finally resorted to calling on people to answer questioned. Through that I learned that the human race was portrayed as helpful in the poem. I personally would have taken the bike for a few donuts first. So I disagree with that point of view, but not totaly

I think that maybe if it had some more description in it and words that would draw the reader in that i would like the poem better. In our group discussion someone said that the title should be The Bridge at Seventeenth, because thats where all of it happened. I would have to agree with him because it sounds like a more interesting title than Fifteen to me.
What I learned was that it has an intense mood, and it was showing what an average stuff can happen when your 15. Why did they say I was 15 after every sentence? One comment was commenting about personification and that was pretty memorable. I learned to look deeper into the meaning and read between the lines because the true message might not be on the surface.

Some of the people in our group did not really seem to be getting into the discussion as well as they should have been, and if they had then our discussion could have been more eventful and memorable. I think it might have been better if we had a leader that went on to new questions every time that we ran out of things to say for the current question. That might have made the discussion move more smoothly and made it more effective.
I learned that sometimes you look at poetry one way and in a discussion you have a totally different perspective on it. At first i thought the poem was just about a guy crashing on a motorcycle. Now I think its about a guy who remembers himself crashing on a motorcycle when he was fifteen. He remembers all the details and I realized that poetry is never easy to understand.
that the poem was about a man that crashed his motorcycle. the most memorable for me is when i repeated something that was already said. more like an imagery poem to me. our group needs to talk more about whats relevant to the conversation.
One of my favorite comments that i herd from our circle was will he ever see him again. Another was the answer to the question what are titles would fit this poem? one of the answers I liked was "Bridge on Seventeenth".
In the poem fifteen it is very descriptive and is good at creating an image in your head. "as it lay on its side, ticking over slowly in the high grass". Also it uses the literary term personification, "pulsing gleam". I think the theme of this poem is that no matter how hard you might want to take something from someone, always be the better person and do a good deed. This poem reminds me of driving and getting your permit because this is the age that you get it. It can relate to the poem because maybe the boy just got his permit and wanted to take the bike and ride away. I found out many meaning there is for this poem through our socratic seminar.
