Regarding the Position Paper Process, what did you learn about yourself and the writing process? What will you apply and remember? Comment about the rubric, writing lab, conferences, process steps, peer editing, etc... Please respond today in class.
What I learned during the planning and writing of my position paper was that all the paragraphs MUST link back to the thesis and that you can never have to many drafts.
I learned that I lose things very easily. The writing process was fairly difficult. I will remember how to cite documents and quote them. The rubric could have been better. I thought that the rubric could have had points for each strength e.g poor= 1 point perficient=2 etc. The peer editing could have been better, but it helped. The conference was very helpful to me.
During the process in which I wrote my position paper, I learned to not fall behind and stay focused. I learned to plan ahead and not wait to write the final copy the night before it is due. It leaves time to figure out what your missing and what you need to type again. Your paper will turn out better if you spread the process out over a longer period of time. I also learned about cutting down on linking verbs and the little things that make your paper smoother.
I learned many new things i did not know when i started the paper. The conference with Mr. Trotter helped a lot and he helped with with a lot of new ideas. The peer editing helped too if your partner actually read it and commented on it. I will remember the different steps we took to get to the end of the paper, and will maybe use Noodle Tools in the future, even though it was pretty confusing.
I learned that writing papers doesn't really take that long if you are actually interested in the things that you are writing about. I also learned that people are commenting to help you not to waste your time.
i learned that you need to do the paper and everything that you want to do everything the night its assigned so you don't wait to the las minute and stay up till 3 in the morning only to forget it at home.
I learned that i can get things done better if i take it slow and take breacks every once and awile. the process was a little bit tedious for me sice we were doing other things in class and had other hw and not just position paper i kinda think it would have been better to just do it and get it over with. i found the writing lab really helpful because it helped me foucus my thoughts and know what exactly i needed to do.
by writing my position paper i got a more in depth look at one of my beliefs and got to understand more on why i felt that way. i also learned that writing a proper essay takes a lot of time, planning, and lots of steps. and also that if you stay on pace it is much easier to finish your paper.
What I learned about myself in the process of writing my position paper was that I need to plan better. But, that is also something that I learned to do by using noodletools and by doing a power outline. It was good that we did peer editing because then I could get a second opinion on my writing, and the conference also helped a lot because it helped me improve my writing. The steps that we took in writing this helped greatly.
I learned that the more drafts you and the more time you take (including the breaks) the better your paper will be in the long run. Also when writing your rough draft look at the rubric and see what you need and not try to squeeze it in in the last few days. When it comes to conferences, the earlier you do the conference the more time you will have to make the changes that he recommended. C.J out!!
I learned that I write better when I write in segments and write a paragraph at a time. When I just write all of the paper at one time it is not as high of a quality as it could be if i take my time and do it a paragraph at a time. One thing that I will take away from this paper is that it is always better to take your time with a paper and not do it the night before. I do think that the conference helped my paper to be the best that it can be. The process steps made it much easier to complete this paper because it broke the paper up into little bits which made it not seem so big and difficult to do. The peer editing also helped a little, but the conference was more beneficial.
What I learned about the position paper was that you have to stay on topic in each paragraph point. You have to make sure that you can think clearly about each point and creatively relate them all back to the main idea of the essay and your thesis. I also learned that being able to write clearly and concisely will only help your paper and get your ideas and opinions across quicker. So, you need to be able to critique your own writing, but try to not work too hard on it or you will over think your writing, and start to question it.
At the start of my position paper I thought to myself about how hard this will be. Once I started writing I realized it was not that bad. I learned so many things about how to improve my writing, such as thesis statements and conclusions. I will always keep that in mind the next time I write a paper. The rubric helped me a lot. All the process steps made it easy for me to do it and do it well. It made me feel like I had time to do a good job. Whenever I was confused on anything I would ask Mr. Trotter instead of trying to figure it out myself. Peer editing helped me in many ways. One to see feedback not just from a teacher but by a student in the same situation.
In the writing process, i learned that i will understand things and eventually know what to do in the end so i shouldn't procrastinate with confusion as an excuse. Writing lab and conferences really help me understand what I am missing and they point out what I don't realize is wrong. Any type of editing immensely improves ones paper. I also learned a lot about NoodleTools, which really helped me get organized and understand more what I am writing about.
I learned that when im interested inn the topic i will work my hardest. Getting help and having someone else look aat my paper and give me suggestions really helps me improve my writing.
I learned that in the position paper, you can never be too clear about your thesis throughout the paper. The introduction and conclusion paragraphs aren't the only paragraphs that can have the thesis in them. I learned how to properly insert a quote that supports my point. I also learned that historical references can be of great use in a paper.
While writing the Position Paper I learned that it takes me awhile to write a good solid paper and that I need to have several different people edit my paper because some are harder critics than others. When I visited the writing lab I didn't find it very beneficial because the teacher in there was not a hard critic. I think the conferences help by finding your teachers opinion on your paper and how you can get a better grade on it for their class. I also think that taking the steps helped improve my paper so I could focus each part of my paper.
From the Position Paper I learned that I really do need planning, although I really don't like it very much. I learned that if I plan what I am about to write out then I can see what the topic is that I need to continue to follow. But I also learned that I don't always have to go with the first thing I put onto the paper. For example, I changed A LOT of my wording when I went back to edit things, and it turned out that I caught things the more I read them. Meeting for conferences also was helpful to me because then I had some really strong feedback, which gave me more ideas in what to put into my writing and whether my writing was following what it needed follow. Some processes that I followed was to keep on checking with the SAS thing, so I could see how may weak sentences I had, but I found that tiring to type it in there, so I changed into taking 10min increments to see what I needed to change. I also found that peer editing didn't really help me. It's not that i don't like my peer editor(s) but it just didn't give me enough feed back.
With this position paper project i really learned not to procrastinate. I was a little behind, but I learned and started turning things in and improving all my writings so i could receive the best grade. This form of writing was hard for me because i really had to focus on staying on topic and working with my thesis. I tried to edit as much as i could and I am very thankful this whole process is over with and i am very proud do my final piece. I also learned that once you start writing it is easy to get into it, and really go deep into your thoughts.
During the processes of making the position paper i learned a lot of things. i learned that if you fall behind it is hard to recover. I also learned to make copies of everything that you turn in. I also learned that it takes a lot of steps of time to write a good paper. During my conferences i learned that i need to slow down and take time proofreading. I also learned a lot about my topic and i am very proud of the paper i turned in.
I learned that writing can be really hard. I also learned that all of the paragraphs in this position paper had to link to the thesis, i didn't know that before. I also learned that it is easier to write about something you care passionate about than if you don't care about it.
Well I learned that I could do better at writing but I think I did pretty good on my position paper. The writing process helped me a lot at making my paper good. i will remember how to use the outline and some other stuff. The peer editing was good so that i can get advise from other people on making my paper a little better and what i should work on more. The process step was good because it was broke into pieces so you can work step by step and not having to work on different things and get off topic. The conference helped a little on what i should do better and make my paper better.
while writing this, i learned a lot about the way that i write. i also discovered a bunch of helpful tools like buble.us and noodletools that help me improve my writing in the future. The conference was really helpful because i got a lot of time for me to learn about what I need to improve on individually.
While writing the position paper I learned a lot about how to revise and edit properly. It really help to get comments from the other students about your own paper and getting to conference with the teacher as well. I also learned a lot about how to use sources and other school websites to help out with paper. I learned about myself that it takes a lot of time and responsibility to write a long paper like this. I will use the subscription services and noodle tools for future papers I have to write.
While writing my position paper, I learned how to argue my facts more and also work ahead and stay ontop of asignments(not be a procastinater). But meeting with Mr, Totter helped get my position paper to be more arguable and let it have a better understanding for the reader.

I Learned that writing that was not as easy for me as all of the other wirtings we did. It showed me that if I put my mind into something can do it .
