The quote "We wish do speak, but but we dare not speak above a whisper" (Pg.38) Shows that in Anthem you cant do what you want you have to follow the rules but in this video you can be loud and do whatever you want, bu you must realize that one thing leads to another.

In Anthem, it quotes "We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, invisible, and forever" This shows that in this world they have to be alike and not have individuality. In the music video it really demonstrates freedom of expression and the ability to do what you feel like doing. Also, being unique, which is sort of a burden in the book. It really makes you think about how nice it is to be free.

This is very different from anthem since these people are standing out from the rest and not many people could set all that up so they are being different which is not good in Anthem. In Anthem it was said "It is not good to be different from our brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them. Not that these men are superior but they are better at what they did than most so they are better which makes them in a way bad.

This video exhibits a strong antithesis to Anthem because it is very unique compared to anything else. In Anthem, they said "We are nothing. Mankind is all. By the grace of our brothers are we allowed our lives. We exist through, by and for our brothers who are the State. Amen." This goes against the video because it says that mankind is all, yet individuals are nothing. It tells that there is no uniqueness within the society. On the other hand, the video would be practically impossible to recreate because of its exceeding creativity.

The song This Too Shall Pass is different then Anthem because the people who did it are able to do what they want. An example of Anthem not being like this is at the beginning "it is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down..." In the video the men and women that created it had to think like others didn't and write those thoughts down to build them up into the video. Witch you cant do in Anthem.

The video relates to anthem because in the book it describes how there is various rules to make things work properly and in the video, people had to try very hard to get the order of events priciest relating to the laws of physics. In addition if one thing was wrong it would screw everything else up.

The creative music video for "Shall this Pass" celebrates what it's like to be creative! In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand creativity is unwanted. "But it is only our brothers in the House of the Artist who are permitted to draw pictures...." This quote can show how there is no creativity in the Anthem society but, in the video for "Shall this Pass" people want creativity.

The video is very different then the story Anthem. The video shows how creative these people were. Also they each have their own individual thing in the video. The story Anthem they are all one. They can not use the word "I". In the story is says "We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever." They can not express them selfs like the video did.

This video is different because in anthem everything is strict but in this video there just having fun and smashing things and getting paint on them and there singing and in anthem the people would not like that because if the whole town would not be a part of it it would make it not okay to be different or stand out from all the other people and in life everyone has a different personality and everyone should have the right to be different

"We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One,invisible and forever." This quote from the book Anthem really goes against what the individuals from the video would have in there society, because not everyone has to have a part in something and the quote states that if everyone has a part in something and someone doesn't want to then there exiled.

Top of page 38 the quote "We wish to speak it, but we dare not speak above a whisper". This to me feels kind of like the opposite of this video. In the video they just did a project doing whatever they wanted in it which was pretty cool actually. But in Anthem you don't really have any freedom of speech or your not allowed to do whatever you want, you have to be obedient to all of the rules of the council.

"We think that there are mysteries in the sky and under the water and in the plants which grow. But the Council of Scholars has said that there are no mysteries, and the Council of Scholars knows all things." Equality thinks that there are mysteries all around him but the Council of Scholars that "knows all" says that there are no mysteries out there and that they have figured everything out. If the Council of Scholars viewed this video they would have the makers punished for being creative and sharing something that ventures so far out to be physics. They would destroy the video and ruin the people who made the video. In the video it also shows people who are unique and doing what they want to do. In anthem there is only things that they have to do, not what they want to do.

"only our brothers in the Home of the Artists are permitted to draw pictures"
Anthem Page 30 Top paragraph
I believe that the music video for This To Shall Pass shows creativity that in Anthem the people are not allowed to have. It also shows that Individuals can be creative. While in Anthem it clearly states that creativity comes from men working together not from the brain of one person. Equality 7-2521 struggles with this because he is a creative thinker who is learning alone and apart from his "Brothers" which is a crime

"But it is a sin to give men names that distinguished them from other men (Rand 41)." In the world the Equality lives in they can not love who they choose because they single out one person to be "better then all the rest. To love someone, one person, would be a crime because individuality is oppressed. In Okay Go's video they have different colors and items that distinguish them as a person and also as a band. In Equality's world they have no names or objects or colors that let them be who they want to be, even though most are half-brained and delinquent.

"Dare not choose in your minds the work you would like to do when you leave the home of the students." The reason this video would not go well in "Anthem" is because these guys chose their own lives and that was to make music and make really cool videos while in "Anthem" your job is chosen for you by the Council.

"Home of the Actors", there is no individuality. You do what is told and unless your home is the Home of the Actors, you are not aloud to act. In this video it shows unique individuality. These men put together an amazing stunt; without any one telling them they can't do this. In Anthem, unless you are in a certain Home, you may not do what you would like.

The video by Okay Go goes against the theory of "Anthem" because in "Anthem" its states: "We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever." The video shows how every one can be different in colors. Each member of the band had ben painted with different colors showing that not everything is the same and they are seperate people. Another example from "Anthem" would be: "The sleeping halls are white and clean an bare of all things save one hundred beds." In the video there were many colors and though they were in white suites even the members were splattered with color

It's the opposite of what's valued in Anthem because in the video, everything in the video is positive and creative. In Anthem however, society goes against individuality because they want everyone to be the same. For example "We are nothing. Mankind is all." which basically means ourselves personally are valueless, but we are valued when everything's the same. "Since the Council does not know of this hole, there can be no law permitting to enter." This pretty much means that we can't explore;explore the unknown. Therefore, creativity would be considered evil, cursed, and damned.

The theme and setting of the video is very differential from Anthem because the art and creativity from the video expresses fun and individuality with freedom of choice, but in Anthem the setting and theme is the opposite. For example the author explains how "it is a great sin" to either be smarter, more creative or even be bigger from others. She also explains how they all have to be equal to one another.

Most likely, this experiment took a great amount of thought which was forbidden in the time that Anthem took place. Equality said, "We are born with a curse. It has always driven us to thoughts which is forbidden." He tells the truth, we all have a brain and we cannot help but think. The people that made this probably had a quick, articulate mind, a very evil in the eyes of the teachers in Anthem. Not being able to express imagination or to even think takes away all personality and creativity from people.

In the video "Shall this Pass" by Okay Go these people were happy when they created this video. Therefore, they were joyful when spending all the time they did on creating this video. Here is a quote that contradicts what Okay Go did from the book Anthem by Ayn Rand. "It is not good to feel to much joy nor to be glad that our body lives." (Rand 46)

"We shall not ask this question and we shall not think it. We shall not call death upon our head." This quote is showing that the society he lives in is so controlled they can't even think for their selves. They are told what told what to do, instead of having a free mind, such as the video had. Another difference is the sciences. In this music video they have televisions, cannon filled with paint, and other newer models of things. In Anthem they say there wagons that moved, yet had no horses. We know the government is limiting what they do because they had those items, in the Unmentionable times. This is also a way to show they can't speak their mind. Music and inventing is their passion, but they choose it not a council.

"sin,it is a sin to write this. It is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down upon paper no others are to see" the video is not like the scene in the book because the people and things being used in the video each have there own personalities and there own colors and shapes but the people in anthem are supposed to be the same almost exactly in all ways and that there not aloud to converse with others or do things they want

These guys must of had a lot of courage and imagination to create something as amazing as they did. In Anthem they really were not allowed to express themselves as these guys did. In the book it says how it is a huge offense to use your imagination but the guys in this band really expressed their imagination. But sadly Equality 7-2521 cant express themselves at all.

My quote from Anthem is"It is a sin to write this. It is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down upon paper no others are to see." This quote shows that in Anthem everything is done for you and you are told what you can and can't do, there is no freedom in Anthem. This To Shall Pass video is about the freedom we have and how everything and everyone is free to do what ever they want when ever and how ever. It reminds that no one has to tell you you are not forced to do anything.

This To Shall Pass shows how they want to be different and will be different unlike the Anthem. “ “ ‘It is forbidden,’ they replied.” it shows how they are restricted and how they are very different from the people in the Anthem. The people in the book have to fallow certain rules that are made by the government and can not break them. But then in the video it shows how the guys are breaking the rules of society which there for they are free.

In the book it says " it is a sin to think..." its a sin to be happy to express your own individual ideas and who you are.In the book anthem they are all controlled and they wont let you do what you want. You are controlled. but in the song This Too Shall Pass everything leads to another, you can do whatever you want.

“We are nothing. Mankind is all. By the grace of our brothers are we allowed our lives.” This quote is basically saying that without the others they are nothing, but in the video, each of the parts of the mechanism they have created stand by themselves and only require other parts to get them started. Unlike in the book Anthem, they can be different and better or worse.

The city has rules, rules that are claimed to protect you isn't that what rules do? Protect them from what their self expression? How do you protect them from themselves? It is not logical. Equality on page 38 says "We wish to speak, but we dare not speak above a whisper." This demonstrates the strict rules laid before the people. The song had no such rule or order but was chaotic, and in that mess of movement there was organization one not seen by many but one that was there. Freedom
