Anthem has wiped out all technology. They are ruled by the law of others. They still use fire as light, and there hands to create. Now, technology is our world. We are technology. Anthem states us as the "Unmentionable Times", or we are the "Evil Ones". We were evil because of the amount of technology we had, it over powered our minds. We thought we couldn't live without it. In Anthem, you have other people think for you, but to them that is more safe than letting technology doing the thinking.

There are many connections to "Anthem" in this video. The video showed the word we and I a lot. In Anthem it never says I, because in their world being yourself is a sin. Saying that "we are the web" made me think that we are all connected, and it would probably be very hard to communicate without technology. It is scary to think about the fact that technology has slowly began to take over our lives though. Anthem really shows you how much things are different when you're not yourself.

This film relates to Anthem in a few ways one way was that in both Anthem and this video everything/everybody is connected or related in some way. This video is also related to Anthem by how similar everything is.

This video made me think of how easy it is to create and destroy something all with just the click of a button and that with text you almost cant feel emotion in the wording unlike in books because in books we can almost feel what the character is feeling and it almost feels more real to us because we are holding the book in our hands. One way i think this connects to "Anthem" is that the Internet connects everyone together and in "Anthem" when they speak they don't think "I" they think "We" because saying "I" is selfish almost.

The video made me think a lot about how the Internet and digital text and media has helped us i believe that the media has soooooo many resources that not anything can compare to that. the Internet is always being updated and new things are being stored new ways of communicating and sharing things with several people are always developing and they always will and I'm taking the steps myself to develop with the technology of my generation.

I think that this video shows how that we are all leaning towards "we". The web is making is more possibilities to become less independent and more dependent. As in Anthem where everyone is very dependent and no one is "I" everyone is "we" you are "we" I am "we" everyone in anthem is "we". The web is making up more prone to becoming a collective society. "We are one in all and all in one. There are no men only the great WE, one indivisable and forever." is a quote from Anthem that tells about "we" this quote could be how we live on the internet in 10, 20 years from now.

This video made me think about how the Internet allows everyone to post ideas, thoughts, opinions, and facts. The sources aren't always correct, but it allows us to do whatever we want. In Anthem, it reminds of that question Equality asks "What is the Unspeakable word?" In a sense, I think of it as "I" because it stands for yourself as an individual. The Internet allows us to be that way, which is why it has expanded so much.

It made me think about how our civilization is changing and how we need to adapt to technology. It is like Anthem because, us as a society, are loosing emotion as we speak through email, web, facebook, chat, and IM." It was when i read the first word of the book and i found that the first word I saw was "I". We are loosing the I when we use technology. I am not scoffing at technology but i think we need a little more I and individuality because technology is taking that away from us.

This video makes me think about how much technology has changed and how it has changed peoples lives. This video connects with Anthem because they do not really know a whole lot and the do not know about a lot of things that we have today. in the video we are supposed to do things on our own and we figure out how to do things on our own and how they effect our lives each day an in the book they don't know the word "I" and the have to stay together as a community. The people don't know any one else. And they have to stick together. KENDALL SALING

The video was about how technology rules are life. In Anthem the story takes place in the future where technology was stopped and they didn't even know about electricity. Their must of been a reason why technology disappeared. In Anthem it says "we think that the men of the Unmentionable Times had known our power of the sky."pg 34. Maybe technology will rule us one day. It knows all about us for when we search stuff on the Internet. It keeps it in its memory. It may one day take over.

Wesch's video made me think about how we use technology today, the video had facts about how people need technology today to reach a primitive futuristic society and to establish a landmark for mankind. This video relates to anthem because in Anthem their society was also trying to become primitive like we are today.

This video has made me think about how the web has change from a few sites to a few thousand sites, the movement and progress is completely different to the world of Equality 7-2521 or Prometheus as he later calls himself. In his world progress comes slow because they are not allowed to think freely. In our culture the ability to think freely lets one create freely and with this ability the world is progressing in leaps and bounds. IN the world of Equality 7-2521 as said in the text, "what is the Unspeakable Word?" said by Equality Page 51 last sentence. the word he later discovers is I. It is illegal to say this because it would suggest that you are better than your so called "brothers".

It makes me think of how amazing technology is and what it is becoming. I think this video can connect with Anthem by the fact of progressing technology. "We, Equality 7-2521, have discovered a new power of nature." In the video, it starts out with paper and then changes to digital/computer. In quote expresses how Equality and society had candles and then Equality found the light powered by electricity. This was a big jump, just as it was from paper to the computer.

This video makes me think about how we are so used to the technology today that we don't even think much of a camera or computer when in Anthem the people there used no technology and didn't even want to. Theres also the part where equality brings his light to the scholars and they said it would take years to get it to be used. This makes me think that in Anthem the people don't want any technology thats to great when we now a days use anything that will make our lives easier or better.

I makes me think about how much the Anthem is so such more different then our life. We can do so much with out restrictions, for example expressing our self on the web, unlike the unmentionable times. "Unmentionable word", he talks about it this way because they have never had the chance to be his own person unlike today. Today you can be an individual which in the video is shown through the web.

In the story anthem the technology is very limited, people are not allowed to go and learn about what ever they want. This video shows how we are in control of the technology that goes out to other people. We are not forced to learn, but we learn because we want too. In anthem this liberty is very limited.

This connects with Anthem because the society is like the machine. Humans are a part of the machine in the video, and in Anthem people are just part of the society. They are different though, because in Anthem, man is nothing without other men, but in the video man controls the machine individually.

anthem and the video are way different because in anthem they cant have technology but in the video and real word we have so much technology and its getting so smart and the web is getting so big you can pretty much do anything you want and we are the technology we created and we rely on our technology now more then anything

The video make me think about how we are able to teach a machine new things. And it could connect to Anthem by how Equality taught. at first it is very strict for a computer how it is built. after a while he teaches his self about new things almost the way we teach a machine.

Wesch's video about "us in the machine" addresses about how technology has advanced and improved so much over the past couple decades. This relates to the book Anthem by Ayn Rand because Equality has progressed and accomplished so much also. "It is my mind which thinks, and the judgment of my mind is the only searchlight that can find the truth." (Rand 94)

it makes me think that we may use technology too much i mean for example right now were blogging when we could write our responses on paper instead of using technology. right now we use technology so much that if we were to go a whole day with out any technology other than lights we might jut fall apart. if we were forced to give up all technology right now another war may break out. this video connects with anthem by saying we were doing just fine back in the day when the only technology was a light bulb just look at our ancestors they got around, they lived their lives just fine without technology. when equality and the golden one found the cabin in the mountains they started to find out what technology was and i bet that if they keep being so adventurous they will find all the technology we have now.

This makes me think about how we really do depend on everything technological. This video connects to "Anthem" because they were all considered to be connected through blood and by being alive as we are said to be connected to technology through the information we put on here. In "Anthem" all the information was shared with each founding and the only people to really change anything about what was given was the Councils. "We have learned things which are not in the scripts. We have solved secrets of which the Scholars have no knowledge......We are defying the will of our Councils." They found new information into which they would like to share with there brothers, but because they have done it alone then it is not accepted.

"There was no pain i their eyes and no knowledge of the agony of their body." (Anthem P.51) As Equality looked into the eyes of the burning one, those eyes showed no pain and no sadness. Like in the video, as the web adapted so did the transgressor. The web learned to be more efficient and faster while the transgressor learned to bear the pain and to think about the unmentionable word. The web has been ever adapting to best fit the needs of people, but while we think it is someone else who does it, it's really us who change the web and how it processes everything. What happens to the web also happens to us. We change to become more efficient just like the web does. We may not notice who it is that changes us but we do change and adapt the same as the web. So as we adapt, the web adapts to how we search.

The short video and the concepts in Anthem seen to be far off, when really they are closer than most people think. In Anthem there is a council throughout the whole world that are connected. Now look at the Internet. What is it? Thats right, it is a system to connect people all around the world. That is what they have in common, systems. Now sure, their concepts might be opposite, but the basic structure isn't. With that knowledge we can see their differences. The world in Anthem pen, paper, and candles are used. While computers and electricity are used just as much here. Equality finds out about electricity then, " but when the majority of their brother Scholars voted against them, they abandoned their ideas, as all men must."That quote shows that that society shuts down new ideas. While ours opens itself up for these new inventions. We are wanting to move forward and they are staying right where they are.

This video made me think a lot about our society and how things work and how one thing can affect another thing and so on. This video connects to anthem by how people are the ones making a change and when people input something into a computer it gets smarter and has more memory and vise versa for how our society works. "What is not thought by all men cannot be true" This means that if no one else believes you and you have no proof then it should not be true so you have to show the facts before you can say something is true or not.

One hundred years ago in a past generation man was grounded, man had not yet tasted flight. Now one hundred years in the future we have gone to the moon. The things we have achieved the things we can do and only in one hundred years. In one hundred years we went from watching the birds fly high above us asking what would be like if we could fly. The dream became true, we as man can fly, we as man can save lives with our technology. We so often look at the great works we have created the help lives the inventions that save lives. We do not look at what man has created that destroys we turn a blind eye to such matters. Digitalized is the word to describe today. We are all sucked into these quote great new advancements. There is always two sides to everything, and this is no exception. Words, speaking, voice, and sight. All of these things have changed as our technology progresses. Words are no longer spoken but typed. We no longer hear a voice of those we are in contact with. We no longer see those people. We see text, we hear a tone to alert us that we have a new message. People no longer give a call and see it as a waste of time and that a text will be just fine. One hundred years...and that much change...what will the next hundred years look like? I fear for the future...we see each other less and less call each other less and less. What will the future look like? I both look forward to it and fear it...we decide what the future will look like. Will we choose to stay on our current path, the path of text and web? That is for us to decide what will it be?

In the video, it talked about us, individually communicating with each other, but it also mentioned US, as a whole creating/teaching "the machine," the web. This is similar to Anthem because as a whole we are doing something...never alone, but unlike Anthem, we are not doing it because we are forced to, we are doing it unconsciously."I AM....I THINK...I WILL."we do what we want and we don't even know what it will cause...

The video made me think our society. How everybody has to be different and its good to be different. Anthem is the complete opposite. It is forbidden to even think about being different from the others. the video shows how our society is climbing to its climax of so much freedom of everything, the strictness of Anthem unfortunately might happen one day to calm things down.

"I AM. I THINK. I WILL" is a quote in Anthem. Equality discovered the word "I". He has never been familiar of being one individual. Today, EVERYBODY uses the word "I". Our worlds are focused on one thing. Being an individual. Being ourselves.

In Anthem there is no kind of technology, there is no connecting with people. But here in this video people are connecting over the net. There is so much you can do in just a click of a button. The society of Anthem is all about being "we" not " I" not individuality. But people even over the Internet are connecting they are posting their ideas their images, the Internet is becoming a more and more like anthem. The society is more focused on how each other live, then focusing on themselves.

equality discovers many things in the story, specifically electricity which could help the economy greatly if the cruel leaders would accept ideas from people. if this were so, then there would be a great involvement in invention and the ongoing search for new technology.
