I have now witnessed a deeper meaning in poetry. I learned that in almost all poems there is a deeper meaning or multiple meanings. I've learned how to read poems in many ways, I also learned ways to analyze poems. I have found that when you read a poem more than once you may get a different view from it. My writing of poetry has also grown. I have learned the different ways to write poetry. Poems that rhyme, poems that don't rhyme, all so beautiful and unique.A poem is like a snowflake; no two are the same.
I have learned much regarding poetry. Especially in the poetry terminology section. When making the list I learned lots of vocab that I had never heard of before. Also, I have the learned several of the ways to write a poem (metaphor, concrete, etc.). Last, this was the first time I had truly analyzed a poem before giving a different outlook on some poems.
Amanda C. What I have learned about poetry is that their are many different types of poetry. They way you put something together can make it sound even better. You can make something symbolic. When you read someones poem you can learn stuff about them and what they are thinking.
I have learned about being able to anaylize poems, I can annotate them and notice things from tp castt and the fact that i can write poetry alot better now has made everything for our poetry portfolio so much better, i have learned so many new phrases and writing techniques
Through the poetry part of English what i really got out of it and i know i will probably remember for a long time is just the types of poem such as metaphor poems or personification i also learned to to analyze poems to try to see their deeper meaning as well as read a poem and just spit back out what i just read to tell someone the plot.
In the poetry I am confident with the terminology and different types of poems. I do wish that we had read more poetry, maybe some Shakespeare or Edger Allen Poe or Robert Frost or Emily Dickinson. I do think that some Shakespearean poetry would be interesting.
I have learned many things in english 9 throughout the year so far. Though, this semester has focused mainly on Analyzing poetry and such. The study of poetry has taught me how to properly respond to certain aspects of poetry itself. I learned certain terms of the structure of poems and the terminology that makes it matter. At first it seemed like there wasn't too much to poetry but once you get to studying it, theres alot to think about.
I've learned that poetry is a creative way to express concepts, as well as our thoughts and feelings about them. Also, I've learned that there are many other kinds of poetry other than free-style, haiku, and rhyme poetry, like iambs, catalogs, and odes. It takes a lot to write a poem, a lot of the times I never noticed all the methods I've used in the past to write a poem for a class. I never knew I used allegories in many of my poems, as well as alliteration, and irony. My very best poems all included each of these elements.
In regarding to poetry I have learned that there are a lot of aspects to poetry. Many different reasons and meanings could hide behind each line, and that poetry is split up into different sections which makes each poem different just because of their structure. Analyzing poetry has turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be but now that I know that there are diferent terms for each and every part of a poem it makes analyzing poetry easier.
During this unit on poetry I learned many more poetry terms and I learned how to annotate according to TP-CAST format. I also started using the TP-CAST format on my own poetry to improve my work. In general I do not like reading poetry or writing it. But in this class I at least learning how to understand what the author it trying to convey and the emotions in the poem.
I enjoy learning about poetry. I am a very artistic person and enjoy expressing myself in another way. I mostly express myself through acting or dance so being able to sit down and have a deeper meaning means a lot. I also love reading poetry. It is so interesting analyzing in TP CASTT to find more meaning in the poems and understand behind the words of what the author is actually trying to say. The Poetry Terms also made me think more about what kind of terms I can use. So, I was very happy with the poetry unit.
During this unit I have learned a lot. Not only have I learned how to TP-CASTT a poem, but I can use it to annotating more than just a poem. Analyzing a poem really helps me understand the full meaning of a poem and the poetry terminology helps me understand poetry even more. I have also learned different types of poetry and the best ways to write it.
I have learned how to find different parts in the body of the poems that are important like what the title means, shift, similes, metaphors, and what the poet is trying to get across in his/her poem. Analyzing poetry has helped me focus on what the key perts are in a poem and now i am understanding poems better by going through the analyzing steps.
What I have learned about Poetry, so far, is many things. That there is a lot of different types of poems. For example, simile, personification, imagery, etc. Also, how punctuation can really change the mood of a poem. It can make you read the poem in a whole different tone than you would think. It makes you picture a scene totally differently than you might. Poetry has many different types.
I learned a lot about poetry this semester. For some people poetry helps people express themselves. There are many forms of poetry that you can write. Before this semester I didnt know how many different ways i could write poetry. I also learned that poetry can really make other people feel good. Jeff L.:)
Before this semester I knew very little about writing, analyzing and proper words to use while writing. From this semester poetry I have learned a good technique as to analyze a poem called the tp-castt method. I have also learned many new poetry terms like connotation and shift that are used in the tp-castt method. From the list of poetry terms I now know many more proper terminology to use while writing my poems.
I learned a lot of poetry terms especially terms like metaphors, similes, and themes of poems. Reading all of the poems I really learned to look deeper into the poems and find the meaning and symbols involved. The TP-CASTT method taught me that to analyze poems more fully than I have been. When I was writing my poems I learned that they don't have to necessarily make them rhyme.

I have learned a lot of things about poetry. When you use the poetry terms it makes your poem a lot better and more interesting to read. In poetry you can always find a deeper meaning. And there are many different kinds of poetry.
I learned how to analyze poems and find the deeper meaning of something that seems so insignificant. That made me write with a lot of metaphors, seeming insignificant but having a deeper meaning behind them.
In poetry I have found out that when analyzing it the thinking about the title helps. This works because you have a thought of where you are going, not just a shot in the dark. Then many poems have imagery and similes, but poetry is more than that. It is a way to express oneself without going straight at it. It can be a coded or hidden message. That's why you have to keep an open mind. That was probably what helps the most in analyzing poetry. In writing poetry the best thing to do is open up your emotions and just let them flow naturally.
i have learned so much about poetry and i found a much deeper meaning about it i also learned how to analyze my poems a lot better and have a much deeper thinking were you first look at the poem and it means something but if u think a little deeper u will find a secret meaning in the poem and feels great when u get it
I've become aware of the true meaning of poetry, how it sounds and flows. they are very unique, with rhythmic schemes and it makes the poem unravel in your mind.
I have learned a lot. I found out that I could really analyze poetry so much better than I could before. I also learned that I can write poetry with a lot deeper meaning if I concentrate. Poetry terminology will probably never get to me though. I really was interested in the poetry section that we did. I never really appreciated poetry before now.
I have learned many different types and parts of poems and poetry terms. I learned that an allegory is a figurative illustration of truths or generalizations about human conflict. I have learned to write poetry better and expand on what i already knew.
I have learned so much in poetry. I learned to look at simple poems with a deeper meaning, some poems not only have one interpretation but many, mostly it depends on what your point of view is and your attitude toward the poem. Also how you punctuate and divide up the stanza's really impact how the poem is read. Also analyzing poems using TP-CASTT really helped to see the poem in a different perspective, as I would do the TP-CASTT for the poems I would have to read the poem multiple times and each time i would get hit with a new meaning, and it would really change the way i would see the poem. By the time I finish TP-CASTT-ing a poem the meaning completely changes from the first time I read it.
i have learned how to write poems what poetry is used for and very many terms of poetry. i have learned how to analyze a poem and how to correctly read a poem. i have learned many poems dont have titles so you might have to give them one. i have learned that not all poems rhyme.
I have learned many things about poetry this year, I've learned to look at the deeper meaning of the poem. Most poems are written because thats how the person who wrote it is feeling. Ive also learned to look for figures of speech.
I have learned that poetry has much deeper meanings then what it seems to have. You may read a poem that you would say wow thats kinda lame, but if you don't try to look at its deeper meaning then you miss the whole poem in it self. We need to analyze the poems to help use understand the anthers different messages. Doing all this I have learned to make my poems longer, better and have a deeper meaning.
I have learned the structures for writing a poem and how to TP-CASTT. I feel that my writing has really grown because of it. I know the basics for a poem and I know what "I am..." poems are and Metaphor/Simile poems. I feel like I have a deeper meaning of poetry because I have found a that rhyme scheme and what caesura is.I really enjoyed the vocab unit was good because I learned poetry terms. I liked that you "sort-of" combined House on Mango Street and the poetry unit together.
