Title: Rhythm of Love
Artist: Plain White T's
Section of Lyrics: "I told her 'I love the view from up here
The warm sun and wind in my ear
We'll watch the world from above
As it turns to the rhythm of love'"

These lyrics have a rhyme scheme of the 1st two lines and then the 2nd pair of lines. It contains imagery, cadence, and meter especially when sung making this section of lyrics much like a poem.

"Love of mine someday you will die but I'll be close behind following you into the dark"
This is definitely an Elegy because it is talking about death the whole time.

Title:Because of You
By:Kelly Clarkson
Because of you
I'll never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side
So I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust
Not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you

This song relates to the poetry terms because it is symbolic. It has a deeper meaning that you would have to analyze.

Song: 1979
Artist: Smashing Pumpkins
"The street heats the urgency of sound
As you can see there's no one around"

This section of lyrics definitely demonstrates rhyming because at the ends of both lines, the words, sound and around sounds similar.

Song Title: Yesterday
Artist: Atmosphere
Lyrics:
"And when you left I didn't see it coming
I guess I slept it ain't like you was running
You crept out the front door slow
And I was so self-absorbed I didn't even know
And by the the time I looked up, it was booked up
You put it all behind you, the bad and the good stuff
A whole house full of dreams and steps"

The lyrics relate to poetry by rhyming multiple lines. They also relate to poetry by having figure of speech when it says, "a whole house full of dreams and steps". It contains cadence also. These three things make it very similar to a poem.

Title: Diverse City
Artist: Toby Mac
Lyrics:They call us Diverse City, we're colorful good
It's like a freak show in your neighborhood
This part of the song shows a simile comparing some event to a "Freak Show"

Chicken Fried- Zac Brown Band.
"I thank god for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
And the ones that gave their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried" This is a Ballad because it keeps a recurrent refrain.

title:a beautiful lie
artist: 30 seconds to mars

Lie awake in bed at night
And think about your life
Do you want to be different?
Try to let go of the truth
The battles of your youth
'Cause this is just a game

"this is just a game" is a metaphor because they are saying life is a game

Title:Imagine
Artist:John Lennon
"Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people Living life in peace"

This section contains rhyme through lines 2 and 4. Then it also has imagism because it is expressing ideas of similar thoughts that aren't like symbols but just there. It also uses imagery in provoking people to think and draw emotions on the subject.

Title: Sunshine
Artist: Atmosphere
lyrics:
Sunshine, sunshine, it's fine
I feel it in my skin, warming up my mind,
Sometimes you gotta give in to win,
I love the days when it shines, whoa let it shine

this song is like poetry terms because it shows symbolism for example the lyrics mean more then that they say and stand for something else. It has rhyme in it so it kinda relates to a poem.

Title: Iris
By: The Goo Goo Dolls
"And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's ment to be broken
I just want you to know who I am"

This line in the song has a different meaning to me than it represents throughout the song. To me this would be an allegory. In my opinion this line represents a person who is afraid to tell people who they are and what they have experienced; because they are afraid no one will understand. When everything is falling apart you want just one person to know who you are and where you are really coming from.

Song Title: I Hate This Part

“The world slows down
But my heart beats fast right now
I know this is the part
Where the end starts

I can’t take it any longer
Thought that we were stronger
All we do is linger
Slipping through my fingers”

These lyrics have a rhyme scheme, it also has a figure of speech where it says " The world slows down....Where the end starts". Also Consonance,it's also symbolic because it has a deeper meaning than what is read.

Title: Somewhere over the rainbow
Artist: Israel Kamakawiwo Ole'
"Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly"

The Lyrics in this song rhyme in line 2, 4, and 6. It also creates an interesting sort of imagery with the lyrics. The cadence is nice when sung as it flows well.

Song: Easy
Artist: Justin Vernon

Section of lyrics:
"When the time comes and your love is lost
I will grant you sympathy if you let me down easy
When time comes and the wind has blown over
and the north blows home? if you let me down easy
When times and you have to let me go
I will lay out of sound, if you let me down easy"

I think Elegy is showing in this song because it is a mornful song about loosing love. There is also a Caesura in the song when the piano interuputs the singing. And incase I got that wrong, there is a Tone in the song because he has a sad voice and the lyrics have a mornful tone to them.

"And the bouncing bodies' drone
Found eighteen reasons I can't pick up on the phone" this lyric shows the example of a rhyme scheme and assonance between the first and last line.

Title: Make My Dreams Come True
Artist: Hall and Oats
"What I want you got and it might be hard to handle, like a flame that burns a candle. The candle feeds the flame."
This verse demonstrates the use of similes by saying, "like a flame that burns the candle...". I think what they are trying to get across is that they are comparing the unstability of love to a flame which is wild, dangerous and very unstable.

Title: Savior
Artist: Rise Against

"And the day pressed on like crushing weights
For no man does it ever wait
Like memories of dying days
The defend us like hurricanes"

In this song it shows the poetry term figure of speech because "day pressed on like crushing weights" is not actually possible. Also a part of figure of speech is a simile which is used in this part three times.

bThe song is "Perfect Weapon" by Black Veil Brides. The lyrics that I would choose from this song is
"Here's to your perfect weapon,
Crack bones with blind aggression,
Like birds whose wings are broken,
You live without direction"

This stanza of the song expresses metaphors when relating to the birds with broken wings and living without direction. Also imagery because of when it explains breaking bones because of unknown aggression.

Title: Mr.Brightside
Artist: The Killers

"Jealousy, turning saints into the sea, swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis"

These lyrics rhyme on lines 3 and 4. As well as, it represents figure of speech. "Swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis" You cant really swim through lullabies or choke on a alibi.

The title of my song is, 'Beautiful' by Eminem. The section of lyrics is, 'I just can't seem to get out this slump
If I could just get over this hump
But I need something to pull me out this dump'

This section of lyrics demonstrates a rhyme scheme because the endings of these three lines all rhyme.

Title: Impossible
Artist: Anberlin

“Your so impossible but lovely.....I’m impossible to figure out, so impossible, you had your doubts”
i really like this quote because it reminds you to do the impossible things that no one else has the guts to do. It makes you think and the outcome is usually good.

Title: Swing Life Away
Author: Rise Againest

"We live on front porches and swing life away,
We get by just fine on minimum wage
If love is a labor all slave till the end"

The last line of this quote from "Swing Life Away" is a metaphor by meaning that they will do anything for love.
And the poem talks about life and what they do to get by

"The saddest thing I ever learned is relationships don't last
Or maybe I just feel that way cause of my past
Bad memories get to me when I drink mad Hennessey
feeling cold and alone even when I got mad friends with me"
This quote means that there is always something that reminds you of someone or something. It relates to poetry because it is meaningful and has a deep meaning just like in poetry. Also it has figures of speech. That's how this quote relates to poetry

Title: Mine
Artist: Taylor Swift

"Do you remember, we were sitting there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time.
You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter.
You are the best thing that’s ever been mine."

This poem has rhyming. Lines 1 and rhyme and 2 and 4 rhyme. Also this could contain some sort of imagery. Also, this song could have a deeper meaning than what comes off.
