This Too Shall Pass is showing what Equality was trying to do to get the City Council to accept his invention. Although, Equality would have to do a lot to try and accomplish this simple task that the Council wouldn’t even accept. Equality then escapes, finding a new perfect home even though it was very complicated. In this video, all the band wanted to do was get shot with paint, and to do that they made this huge obstacle course and chain reaction activity to get this done.

In "This Too Shall Pass", the technology is pretty advanced and cool. In anthem, the little technology that they had was used strictly to solve important and necessary day-to-day tasks. In the city in 'Anthem', no one would anyone ever be permitted to use the kind of innovation and technology shown to do anything of the sort. No one would be permitted to "think something their brothers have not thought". Technology is used for fun in the video, something that no one in the society of Anthem is permitted to experience.

This video supported and rejected beliefs in Anthem. In Anthem people were doing everything manually, it was just repetition and that was what was going on in the video. Everything just sort of happened. Yes it was set up but it went on its own after that. It also rejected Anthem because it was so different and outgoing which was not allowed by people in Anthem.

This video relates to Anthem, because, this goes with Anthem and how everything in the video was going everywhere, on their own, that's how Equality was, not following the council And he was creating his own life and trying to be his own self.

In the video anthem is all about "we" no one is the self and all of the objects in this have to deal with numbers, and "we" nothing is individualized. I think it related because in the book and in this video they were both not individualizes.

The music video "This To Shall Pass" by Okay Go exhibits the antithesis of what is the valued "Anthem" Because in the book "Anthem" by Ayn Rand, the people in the book are so involved in their society that they don't even think about themselves. Everything is so dull and boring that they need to add color into the way the live. Perhaps have a little fun!

Anthem and This To Shall Pass by Okay Go actually have a lot in common. Both of them show very little efficiency. In Anthem, the jobs they complete do not really effect the society for the good. Like the Street Sweepers, their job does not help the soceity very much. In the video, they have all these little functions just to paint the guys. To me, that is not ideally efficient.

I think this video goes against what's valued in Anthem because it demonstrates motivation and creativity while Anthem has the council control and make decisions for everyone. Also, in Anthem being creative portrays you as being different from your peers and is unacceptable. The council expects their "peers" to go through the same daily routine and the creators of the video had to go out of their way to set up the scene.

In Anthem, everything stays the same and creativity and innovation is strongly discouraged. The video, however, was centered around this gigantic contraption requiring much creativity. No one could "think something their brothers have not thought".

This video is amazing and in a way so different then anthem while the same. Its different because theres so much creativity were anthem has so little. But the same because both in the movie and anthem they find there own way the show themselves.

In this too shall pass it is a giant machine built to paint ball members of the band.So its a giant chain reaction to do it,but if one thing falls out of line the machine wouldn't work,in "Anthem" there world is just like this machine and there afraid the thought that comes from a guy like equality could hurt the machine and it wouldn't run right, however little do they know with out equality's thoughts and new ideas the machine will eventually break and they will have no way to fix it.

"... Thus we lived each day for four years." This video, This To Shall Pass, related to Anthem in one really strong way. At the beginning of the video, there were small things being moved by other small things in small ways. This related to how every person in Anthem did their small thing to help out in the society as a small way. Everyone in Anthem was perceived as equal to the council of scholars, but small. As the video progresses, so does the size of the objects and the paths they are traveling on. This i just like Equality's beliefs in the fact that people should be more valued. At the end, there are big crashes and big objects like cars and trash cans that continue the path. The big objects symbolize to me, Equality's realization of "I" and true individualism. He made the big crash into the new era, passing all Equality.

This video connects with Anthem in some ways. It connects with Equality because he was inventing the light bulb and no one else in his society has thought about inventing something like that before, especially some one that isn't part of the scholars . He made electricity and showed it to the council but they didn't like it. If the council had seen the thing in the video they wouldn't be happy with it really, and they wouldn't have approved it for anything. In a way, the big thing they made in the video represents individuality, and in Anthem everyone has to be the same.

This video relates to Anthem because everything they did added up to a bang in the end. In Anthem equality had to break through the council in order to get were he wanted to be in life. He wasn't a scholar so he had to break the rules and create light without permission. When it came to face the council about his invention. they wanted to "destroy the box". Equality wasn't going to let this happen to his hard work. Which made him take the box and jump out of a window and ran to the forest were he began to recreate his society. This ending up into a big bang of success and hard work.

The video "Shall This Pass" and "Anthem" both have progress. In Anthem, Equality is creating the light bulb. Which the aftermath of the invention is progress, the council rejects the idea of it but Equality tries to tell them that it's a good thing. Like in the video, they went through many steps and processes just to get paint splattered on them. It wasn't very easy and it didn't take a short amount of time, but it finally happened. Equality is like that with his invention too. He knows that is has been created, but it takes time before it finally happens and gets approved. Everything takes process and progress before it can be done.

I think that Anthem is different from the video in the way that, before Equality discovered the light, no one in the city worked together for something. They all did individual work for individual purposes. The video had a bunch of people working together for one thing, to set the track up, and they succeeded. When Equality takes the light to the council he wants everyone to work together in order to figure everything out about it and make it more useful, yet the council turns him down and wants to destroy what he found. They don't want to work with him because he disobeyed rules and thought that it had no use.

In the video, they did a bunch of small things to make a difference even though it wasn't very efficient. I think that this relates to Anthem because, although each job they do like street sweeping all makes a common good. Another reason they relate is for the acceptance of Equality's invention. The band members had to accept the ideas brought up by the workers.

In Anthem the society values no progression and no individuality. In the video they value progression extremely and there is lots of individuality. In the video they come together with every other person to connect each others' ideas, but in Anthem the society fears sharing ideas with each other because they one, should be like each other and two, that idea could advance the society and that is wrong. this too shall pass showed how a person is no matter what different from each other. it isn't possible to be exactly like each other and that is what Anthem's society flawed. For This too Shall Pass they knew they were different and accepted it.

This video would not have been if it were in the society that anthem took place. The society would have probably tortured who ever made that video. It was showing ingenuity of a person. I think this relates to anthem because Equality would have loved that. I think he made headway in ingenuity or industrialization for anthems society so i thought that what equality did was similar to the first push of the domino in the movie.

This the video it is like when equality is trying to solve the puzzle that leads to the end or the answer. Equality would think this invention was amazing because when he was making the light bulb he called it magic. If he would to watch this he would think that this is out of this world, thinking people can be creative or and do things that are on there minds. Not scared to do what he wants.

In both Anthem and the video This To Shall Pass, they both show how everything is connected. Anthem shows that everything is connected because they are all controlled by the council, in the This To Shall Pass video everything is connected and therefore it stays in motion. An example in Anthem is where Equality presents the box and the council says “ This box is useless.” (Pg.73) The box was not approved because not everyone agreed with the box and everyone is suppose to be connected. Therefore the box was not accepted by the Council.

I think that it show the opposite of anthem because in the video they are doing what ever they want invention wise. In anthem Equality tries to show the head people his invention but they rejected him, but in the video they did pretty much what ever they wanted for there video.

This to shall pass by Okay Go sort of differs from what is valued in Anthem in a way that in the video, all of the different little domino effect things led to something new each time and they were aiming for something at the end the whole time. In Anthem, nothing ever changes so there is no domino effect on society because no one ever does anything new, different, or risky. The way of things just stays the same.

I think one way this video relates to Anthem is Equality is the car in the beginning of the video who starts everything. I think that since Equality discovered light, that is just the beginning of the inventions to come. i think the other things that happen in the video are results of him discovering light. I also think Equality would like this video because it is very colorful and it is happy, which is what I think of Equality to be like.

The song by Okay Go illustrates Equality in the book Anthem. Okay Go showed a contraption that was crazy and different than what someone could have thought of. This reminds me of Equality in Anthem because he did what no one had done, broken many rules and ran away to be free from his dreadful past. Some beliefs Okay Go had shown were to be yourself. This is important because it had wild ideas with paint, tiers, umbrellas, dominoes ect. Equality showed this as well because he didn't do what everyone else did, he wasn't going to be controlled and so he did his own thing. Ayn Rand writes this really well and tries to show that you should do what you believe because people might agree with you more than what they thought before. "The Unconquered... Such thoughts as these are forbidden, Golden One." (56) This quote shows both have broken the rules but don't care because they love each other.

I think that it was like, you really need one thing to start something big. With both Anthem and the video only really a little push was needed to start a series of events. One after the other. In the video they were relatively little things, making a ball move, pouring water. In Anthem however is more like BIGGER things. They were both good, yet I always feel disappointed at the end of those type of things. Is it just me?

This video relates to Anthem because Equality keeps himself moving forward even when everything in his path/society is restricting him and his innovative ideas; "How dared you gutter cleaner to hold yourself as one alone and with the thoughts of the one and not of the many?" This is the council of scholars telling Equality how he was wrong to ever believe that he was intelligent above others and for creating his light box. The lyrics of the song about how we move on also supports the ideas in the book because Equality does not let these comments stop him from continuing his creative process.
