"Romeo, Gnomeo, and Juliet?"
After reading Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, what connections or satirized elements do you see employed within the brief clips we viewed in Gnomeo and Juliet?
Please be specific regarding play's characters and plot elements:
Capulets, Montagues, balcony scene, Nurse, etc... This blog response is
due during class today.

One of the things I noticed the film had in common witht the book was the lines. In the beginning, one of the gnomes makes a comment that is very similar to a quote by Tybalt saying that he hates all Montagues.
There are many connections in Knomeo and Juliet with Romeo and Juliet such as the two families hating each other and a feud that has gone on a very long time. Another connection is the balcony scene where Romeo sneaks in the other side so he can see Juliet. The Nurse also plays a big role in the movie as does the Nurse is the book. The Nurse in the movie gives some advice to Juliet about what to do. The father of Juliet is also very mean and strict about what Juliet does which is the same in the book. Throughout the movie there was many connections with the book.
The lines and the way they talked to each other is very similar to the way they speak and act in the book. They share the same hate for the other people. For Gnomeo and Juliet its Blue and Red that they have a problem with each other with in Romeo and Juliet it's the Montague's and the Capulet's.
While watching some of the scenes from Gnomeo & Juliet, I definitely saw some similarities to the actual text. For example, when Juliet's dad tells her that she's fragile and then after he leaves Juliet kind of says, "I'll show him who's fragile," this is like the scene where Lord Capulet says she must marry Paris but Juliet refuses, and then makes a plan to stop the marriage after he leaves. Also, the frog that is Juliet's companion in the movie who is kind of loud and crazy, is the equivalent to the nurse to Juliet in the text. These are just two of the many similarities of Gnomeo and Juliet the movie, to Romeo and Juliet the text.
Romeo and Gnomeo are both very similar characters they both hate the other family, Capulet and reds are the same as are Montague and blues and the nurse is a frog, still as chatty as ever. The lines are a little switched so to match the comity.
Well i noticed the chacters are the same but some have diffrent names like gnomeo is romeo but i also noticed that the scenes are changed but are pretty much as the same in the book just presented differently like the balcony scene in the book is very romantic and caring while the one in gnomeo and juliet is comedic and kinda funny.
the red and the blues are compared to the Montague and the Capulet's. The nurse in Romeo and Juliet is the frog in Gnomeo and Juliet, acting as a mother to Juliet. The Frog is rather large just as the nurse is in Romeo and Juliet. Gnomeo and Juliet also portrayed the balcony scene, where Juliet describes the unimportance of a color as Juliet described the unimportance of the name. After, the frog(Nurse) finds out about their love she supports and defends their love for her beloved Juliet.
The very beginning where the Montegues and the Capulets fight. The gnomes just mess with each other. They also partake in races and stuff to show off their prowess. Also their is the part of the balcony scene. They make it out to be be like people are after them. Also Juliets father nearly finds out Romeo when he comes to visit Juliet.
It is very simmilar to what the book. Thier are alot of simmilarities to what the book says. They change a little form shreackspere lanugae to gnome language. It is very simple.
The houses in Gnomeo and Juliet were divided by Red and Blue. (Mailboxes were also colored with Montague with Capluet). In the beginning of the movie, a Gnome began to read of the prologue of the actual novel. One of the gnomes also took the name Tybalt while Juliet was another gnome as well. Some lines were given to the characters in the movie from the novel as well.
In Romeo and Juliet and the move no one knows how this feud started between the two families. The Capulets and the Montagues names are used and the houses are on Verona drive. There is a character by the name of Tybalt in both the book and movie. The Nurse in the book is connected to the frog in the movie. Benny is similar to Benvolio and the mushroom is Marutio. Some of the lines are very similar in both the movie and the book.
The main thing i notices is that there are two opposing families and their are a lot of seance from the book like the balcony act the part of them dueling and the nurse.
Some of the similarities that I have found are that they both use almost the exact same lines, and the things that happen in the scenes are almost the same. They also share the same "family names" because the names of the people that own the gardens they live in are Montague and Capulet.
One connection I saw between the book and the movie is Tybalt and Gnomeo fighting. I also recognized that the frog was the Nurse. Another connection is the balcony scene and Romeo snuck up on her. Some of the names are the same too like both of the mailboxes have the same Montague and Capulet names. Also some characters like Tybalt and Juliet are the same. One thing that is not the same is Juliet wasn't as athletic as she is in the movie.
It demonstrates what the story is in a very simple and humorous way. It was an easy way to understand the play even if I never read the play. The lines were also quoted from the novel, and from reading the text it was easy to recognize them. They way they act toward each other can relate back to the text, same as the Nurse, Lord Montague, and all of the main characters of Romeo and Juliet. In conclusion, both of these writings can help someone who does not understand the story help them out, in a simple, quick and easy way.
I watched Gnomeo and Juliet when i was a kid and never realized how many connections it had to the actual play Romeo and Juliet. The people that owned the gnomes had the names Capulet and Montague. Also the two gnome families hate each other like the Capulets and Montagues. The frog for Juliet is kind of like the nurse for Juliet. Gnomeo and Juliet were also love at first sight.
After watching Gnomeo and Juliet you can see that there are a lot of elements that it has in common with the original book. In the movie you can see the difference and unknown hatred that the two families have for one another threw the colors on there head. Also you can see that the frog in the movie was sub post to represent the Nurse to Juliet because of the advise and friendship that the two shared. also in the mover they tried to make the most important parts just like the way it is in the Romeo and Juliet book.
I noticed that the Gnomeo And Juliet film piece was very similar to the real play. Some similarities are the Montague's and the Capulet's, because they were represented as being red and blue Gnomes. Another similarity is how there is the hatred between the two Gnomes families in separate yards or "houses". The text within the movie is only somewhat similar to the play because it was made for kids, but the general idea of hatred and conflict is still there.
One thing I noticed where the names and lines where the same, and they acted the same in the movie as in the play.

I see the rivalry with the Montagues and Capulets and how they are blue red also the frog is the nurse. The balcony seen is pretty much the same as it was in the book except a lot shorter and the part where the dad and nurse came. Also when the two families fight at the begging instead of showing fighting they had a race
