No I am not thinking of my scene diffrently and i realized that transitions should be quick and not waste time and narration could be funnier and you sometimes need to impervise and the staging could maybe be what you need.
I thought it was very interesting about how it relates to the play because they cover most of it in a very very short amount of time. They still use the real phrases but only use the ones that are necessary to the play it seems like. It is different and more humorous than the original play.
The overall performance of this shortened act was much more humorous. They went very fast. In the actual play they talked very long. Romeo and Juliet kind of ranted on and on about their love and it seems as if every character talked was very exaggerated. They 3 men in the RSC did very well. They applied all major parts of the play with only 18 min.
They knew their lines and they used a lot of blocking. They walked back and forth, used their hands, and acted out their lines. They made it humorous and kept people interested instead of just doing it monotone and boring. They dressed in costumes and got into their character.
The actors are so lively in the play, and that brings the word and text to life. I think that my partner and I will just need to be lively, and that having memorized lines gives more action and vividness to the particular scene. I find it interesting that the actors are able to cover the entire play in such a short amount of time while still getting the plot of the story across to the audience.
I think that maybe we could make it a bit more comical than serious and to just have a little fun with it. I also see that you can really change costumes easily by wearing a something a little different.
After seeing the RSC version of Romeo and Juliet, it makes me think of how I was going to perform my groups scene seriously, when the RSC version was a funny version. I noticed how the RSC version changed some of the sentences, but most of the famous lines were kept within the script. Also the transitions match to the actual play, because the plays acts, and Romeo and Juliet's love went by fast.
I am thinking of my performance differently by making it more entertaining. I realized that they tried to make it funnier and more entertaining. They made transitions very quick and also were very hard to understand at some points. This RSC version of Romeo and Juliet made me realize that I can make my performance better.
After watching the shortened version of the play Romeo and Juliet I have thought differently about what to do for our performance. I think that it might be a good idea to make our performance more of an overview of the play. The transitions of the play were very obvious with the help of the narrator.
No I'm not. I thought of this as a very funny act of Romeo and Juliet but we are trying to be humors and also trying to seem serious. I liked how their lines fit and how they changed some of the lines and did some improve that was really funny.
Yes, Becaus ethey kept it moving and yet the tell the lines and keep it moving. They took some parts out but yet they keep it real. Alos they cut some stuff out but keep it real and so it seems like they have a decent p[lay from romeo and juliet. We can add more in the aspect of moving around and everthing. So it just depends on whaqt we want to do.
I thought that this video really helped me think about how I'm going to perform my scenes. I think the humor they included within their performance was great! I'll deffinately try to incorporate some into mine.
I am thinking of my scene differently, because this video cuts back on the dialogue and shows the main point of the scene. They also are able to do scenes with a limitation of props, and that was a good idea for the potential use of made-up props.
After watching the RSC versions of Romeo and Juliet I realized that a lot of the actions and lines that Shakespeare put in the play are kind of pointless and stupid. As the actors in these versions satirized Romeo and Juliet, I found that Shakespeare puts a lot of unneeded drama. I thought that the RSC versions were really funny and actually did a great job of summarizing the play in a satirical way.
After seeing this you can make a sorry short as long as you cover the main and important parts of the play. I liked how there was a person naming the background of the story and then there was the two acting it out.
In my point of view, the scenes were not performed differently, but there was a lot of humor. They got the story across and they showed the audience what the story is in a brief, humorous way. They didn't go into detail, and most may just need to know the simple story, and not all of the details to go along with it.
It made me think about our performance differently to try to be more entertaining and incorporate humor in our scene. If the play is entertaining people will actually watch it instead of being bored or falling asleep
The act they did was much more humorous and was less serious. But they still got the story right. They did basically everything that happened, but with more humor.
I found the RSC version a lot better and funnier then it actually is, I had to watch it with my friend when I got home but I find that the scene that my group and I are doing is going to be funny cause it will be a similar scene to the end scene of RSC of "fighting and stabbing."
I thought that this version of Romeo and Juliet was very unique because they make it very, very short but correct in the story. It was also funny because the two men playing the characters covered almost all the characters, female or male.

For their performance they memorized their lines and my partner and I are not planning on doing that. We are trying to be funny during our performance and this has helped us with being fun for the audience.
