i think this applies to anthem because it showed a path but there were alot of different ways of getting threw it like in the anthem there were alot of ways for equality but he picked the one where he defied the govenment.
I think that "that this shall pass" represents Anthem because are both breaking barriers one at a time. In Anthem Equality is breaking the boundaries of knowledge while This to Shall Pass is breaking more physical boundaries.
In ANTHEM and in the movie there was one reaction and then it caused a bunch of reactions. Where in the book maybe if the book didn't end and we went back to the society I bet there was a bunch if rebels forming and supporters. All of them caused from this one car.
In Equality's city everything is set so it works simultaneously taking out the middle man along with the fun and creativity in doing it yourself. This society limits thoughts and adds strenuous environments leading to shorter duller lives. In anthem equality said this It is a sin to write this. "It is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down upon a paper no others are to see. It is base and evil. It is as if we were speaking alone to no ears but our own. And we know well that there is no transgression blacker than to do or think alone." Meaning there is no individuality and imagination in this world.
This To Shall Pass by Okay Go exhibit the antithesis of what is valued in Anthem's society by showing that everything has their own creativity. When you try to show it sometimes it dose not work....when Equality tried to show his creativity, he was let down and it didn't work. Well in the background of this video we saw a lot of things that it looked liked they tried and didn't succeed... so when Trotter tried to relate it...it clicked. "We did not work alone for no words of ours..." Equality just wanted to show his passion in things. But the council would not let him.
"Shall this pass" shows creativity, individualism, and creating new. The society in anthem values the opposite of this. They value a group mentality, only the higher up people are allowed to be creative, and no innovation or new ideas are valued. Anthems society values a more boring society were everything is always the same. This video shows spontanious and creating new from the old
The people worked together to accomplish something. In Anthem they are working together because that's how they were raised. "We" was always said in the book because that's how they were taught.
I think that the video "That this shall pass" relates to Anthem because in the video they are doing a lot of new things and there are many paths that lead up to one thing. In Anthem he realizes that he can do things other than hat he is told to do an starts to think and do things that are against the law and people think are crazy.
The video show peoples creativity on the highest level. They took something simple, like painting themselves, and made it complicated. "It is a great sin to be born with a head to quick." says Prometheus. These people all have quick minds.
I think that the video shows that a group of people can make something that has nothing to do with mankind. This so completely different than Anthem. In Anthem every person and every job is needed to keep the city "perfect" in a way. In the video everyone had an individual project and happy for themselves and the group. But in anthem, you might hate what you are doing but it doesn't matter because its not your choice.
This shall post by Okay Go exhibits the antithesis of what is valued in Anthem’s society by showing how every individual step is apart of a whole system and which creativity has become a part of a well rounded, different process. In Anthem, the people are all required to do whatever job they were listed to do, “Dare not choose in your minds the work you would like to do when you leave the Home of the Students. You shall do that which the Council of Vocations shall prescribe for you. For the Council of Vocations knows in it;s great wisdom where you are needed by your brother men, better than you can know it in your unworthy little minds…” (page 22). This quote and the book both contrast the music video because the video shows how each part plays a role in the big process however, in the book, no body/person is important unless they take part in their assigned occupation.
This video connects to Anthem because of the individuality that is in each piece of art. Anthem is based upon the idea of "we" and everyone has to do everything that everyone else does. "'We are one in all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever.'" This quote on page 19 of Anthem is the saying that the council has created for the people to live by and stand for. One way that the council takes away the individualism is that they take away the color. The video is the complete opposite. They go though this whole process of expressing themselves to splash colorful paint on over themselves. This is their way of showing that they are different and they are important. These connect because they are so different.
It seems to me that in the video, everything is controled, it may seem haphazard but it is all controled in reality. This is exactly what the society in Anthem is built upon, control. No one is alowd to step out of line or it messes up the whole scoiety, just like in the video, if just one thing wen wrong then the whole thing wouldn't work. Maybe this is why the Counsil assighned him to be a street sweeper on page 26, because it is hard to mess up the whole society in his role.
This video shows how important it is to be different. They show this by having each person doing there own part then coming together to create the "bigger picture" no part in this video was the same, this relates to Anthem because the city and people were all boring. If they had everyone doing something else the town would have been more bright
In Anthem and also in the video clip there was one little thing that caused many many larger things. I think in the book if was to be continued maby they would go back to town and more things with bigger impacts would be seen. BG
I think that "that this shall pass" represents Anthem because For this stunt to be pulled off everything has to be controlled and perfect just like the society in anthem. Everything that happens in equality's society is set to happen simultaneously.
Anthem's society and the music video go completely against each other. The music video celebrates expression, and becoming anew, hence the smashing of all the tvs. The Shall This Pass video is very creative and different than what is expected in reality unlike Anthem's society. The society is very conservative, and does not praise anything or anyone changing. "The Council of Scholars has said that we all know the things which exist and therefore the things which are not known by all do not exist". Meaning the society does not embracing in difference and change.
There are several different connections that can be made between the book Anthem by Ayn Rand and Ready Go. The main connection that I found was the spark of creativity. Everyone has their own piece that they had to create. In the end they all come together to create one huge effect. In the book Anthem there is a quote saying, “Many men in the Homes of the Scholars have had strange new ideas in the past . . . but when the majority of their brother Scholars voted against them, they abandoned their ideas, as all men must." In the video everyone has their own part that fits into the puzzle and if one person didn't do their jobs the rest of the demonstration would not work. If Equality missed one part of making the light bulb it would not work. When the crush the Tvit is like Equality jumping out the window to the uncharted forest. It created a new life and kept getting more creative from that point.
In Anthem's society, what is valued most is the order that is created by the complete union of the people. This To Shall Pass by Okay completely contradicts this by making something that seems chaotic, but still functions, and was created by many minds that brought their own ideas and abilities. In order to establish something amazing, many people came together and contributed with their own individuality instead of complete equality and that's how it contradicts Anthem's values, it shows that you can come together and make something that still functions without having to dismiss individuality.
Shall this pass shows creativity, individualism, and creating new. It connects to Anthem because it shows how to be different just like Anthem. The books are both making knowledge and physical boundries way different.
Anthem is similar to Shall this Pass because both the stories have to go through boundries Anthem has to try to give everyone a new innovation while everyone denies him. While this shall pass has to crate a device that starts with a car.

It is not acceptable to Anthem's society from it being different and everything has to be the same. Also it is like Equality because he is different.
This applies to Anthem because they are the same and they are bunch of reactions. Also they have equalities and other knowledges.
