After watching these videos, I felt really nervous about the future. Just having the thought of a computer being smarter than the whole human race is very intimidating to me. Some of the things were very interesting, especially about how the ten most in demand jobs in 2014 did not exist in 2004. Although, it does seem a little intimidating, I also look toward the future with optimism. I am sure that we will continue to learn more and more about our brains and do things in the future we couldn't even imagine right now.
Watching these videos made me realize just how fast technology is growing and becoming more complex. It made me a bit nervous to think that in 2 years technology that you might have known would be outdated. I also made me realize just how big China's population is if their going to become the number one English speaking country in the world. Also I thought it exciting that we might be working at jobs that don't even exist yet. This could effect My academic view because I was thinking about being a software engineer or coding websites and apps, but now that I know I would need to constantly be learning new information about the workings of a computer, I might want to re-consider.
The videos definitely made an impact on me. They made me realize just how much our society is changing. I guess you could say my mind was blown. The facts about us advancing so fast were intense. One of the videos made the point that the children being born right now are going to be going through the technology changes we are experiencing, but more enhanced. I guess this scares me because I know I’m going to be the old lady who doesn't know how to work the devices. I guess with an increase of population, we are able to have more minds to increase technology. My overall thoughts are that everything is changing and I hope I’m prepared for it.
These presentations really made me think about what is happening in the world in the past, present, and future. Most of the facts listed in these presentations were facts I never knew until I watched these videos. This might impact my academics by making me want to be more open to new ideas and wanting to learn more about the world. The facts that were mentioned in these presentations were mind blown. Facts such as in the next eight seconds there are thirty four babies born in China, India, and the U.S. and that soon China will be the number one English speaking country in the world. Mind blown facts such as these give me a better perspective of the world. Therefore, these facts gave me a better understanding of societies from different cultures such as India and China. Finally, knowledge is power the more I know, the more power I will have.
These videos made me think a lot different. I was amazed about all the facts. It is crazy that technology has changed so much in so little time. It is crazy how many people use social media. This changes the view on the world so much on the world it is jaw dropping. I think it's crazy how China will be the number one speaking English country and that's not there first language. I think it will be crazy to have are kids see our phones and say this is so old or what is this just like we said to our parent's old phones. This impacts my education that I need to get working to catch up to kids in other countries. This changed my view on the world a lot because it showed there's always something bigger or better then you or your country. Overall it is just amazing on how much technology is changing.
The videos we watched in class made me think a lot differently. It is so full of information that I took for granted. I never thought about how much things have changes since a decade ago, or even since 2001. I always assumed that the way things are must be the way things have been. Then, I watched that video and it was an eye-opener. I took social media and texting for granted. Plus, I never thought about how much our future was gonna change. I get caught up in thinking that iPhones are gonna be the greatest thing ever invented. I should think more about how much pressure teachers have, especially high school and college. They have to educate the next generation. They are preparing us for new jobs. Then I realize that we as students also have a lot of pressure. It's good pressure, but we still have to become the next generation that runs this world. We have to then educate the generation after that. That video was amazing, and almost a lot to take in.
After I watched these multiple videos on “Did You Know Facts,” I was very amazed on how far the world has came in the last 20 years of online technology. I shared these videos with my parents and they were just as shocked as I was when I first watched it. The videos made me think a lot differently about how much the internet has changed lives and how much information has been transferred from books to the internet. It’s crazy to think that more than 3,000 books have been published just in 1 day. One of my favorite facts they shared with us was that if Facebook would be a country it would be ranked 3rd on the list of countries, and 6th in according to population. In an academic perspective the kids now have it way easier than our parents because our parents didn’t have this opportunity to use the internet in their childhood days, so instead our parents had to go to libraries to do school work and look up their information. Overall the Internet is a great tool for the world to have nowadays.
After watching those videos, I felt a little nervous because the videos made it seem like America isn’t trying very hard educational wise, but after I thought about it more, it made me realize that there are just some nations that have much larger populations. This impacts my view of the world because it kind of opened my eyes a little bit to that fact that we are not the only thriving nation. There are other countries, such as China, that have advanced technology and education like us. It also changed my perspective on education because people talk a lot about how third world countries don’t get much education and when they do, the condition is horrible. But there are also countries that have good education systems and have very intelligent citizens.
The four “Did You Know” presentations really made me think. This is because there were tons of new interesting facts that I learned. Like soon the number one country for speaking English won’t even be America. It will be China. And also that both India and china have twice the amount of college graduates that the United States. These facts are crazy! They also really make me think. Like how a lot of people might think that America is the smartest country in the world or the best educated, when really there are a few countries out there that we didn’t even know were better than America in both of those categories. These were really good facts. This will impact my academics and view of the world because these facts are so amazing that i could get a new perspective on everything.
All four of the videos really had me thinking. I was thinking a lot because there were so many things that I had no idea of. I couldn't believe the fact that China is going to be the number one english speaking country, when that isn't even their native language! I thought it was so crazy how big Facebook is, if it was a country it would be the third biggest country in the world! The thought of eventually having a computer than is smarting that me starts to worry me. Another think that is hard to think about that there are over 4,000 books published every day in the US.
The four “Did You Know?” videos got me thinking about how we use technology in our daily lives. Whether it is in classrooms or for social media technology is a HUGE part of our daily lives. Technology can help further our academics by helping us to have access to the latest information. If a college student's first year of learning will be out dated by their third year then we need a way to keep up with all of this information. Technology has helped us to do this. Beyond education technology has helped us to connect with others all around the world. You can meet millions of other people on social media, some of which are from different countries. The idea that we can connect with kids from different countries with a touch of a button is amazing. However, with all the great things that technology does for us it also has downfalls. For example if a $1,000 computer knows more the the entire human race then how are we to keep up with the information being published and control it? I really enjoyed these videos because they helped me to see the different sides of technology and really got me thinking.
These facts display problems that our generation will have to face. Getting a job will become harder and harder for our generation. With the digital revolution, the way the world runs will be totally different. It will soon all be technological, and we will have to adjust our lifestyles. It was shocking to learn that China will become the leading country in English speaking. These videos force you to have a new perspective on everything that is going on around us. It will be exciting, to say the least, to see how we adapt to the times.
Watching the four videos required to complete this blog just honestly had blown my mind. The videos that was really making me think, in my opinion, is frightening. It obviously is shown that society in our generation we were born into, is changing quickly each year that passes. How these 4-8 minute videos impacted my view of the world is by letting me see how we should enjoy the world in different colors, relating to the book I have read over the summer. Even the background song in the 4th video (which is one of my favorites) called, "Viva La Vida", means in Spanish "The life lives" (written by Coldplay). By the knowledge that I have received, this will also impact my academics changing my view of the future and how much more it can change or how much more of our minds can advance to create something extremely life changing, which can sometimes seem exciting.
To be honest, these videos make me feel very small and insignificant. It reminds me that we are in a gigantic world and there are upwards of 6 billion people in it. It's very humbling but a little sad because out of those billions of people, only a hundred or so will be remembered in 100 or 200 years, maybe even less. We are excelling at a rapid rate, which is good, but so few will be able to see the change happening because we will stick in the past.
The videos made me think about where I am in the world and how insignificant I am compared to the rest of the population. It made me think of how far we've come in a short period of time, and where we will be in the next couple 100 years, which can be a little frightening or intimidating. These videos can impact academics because it can give you a new perspective to look from.
After watching those four videos, I now realize how much we depend on technology these days. We never really think about it but we used it to cook our food, talk, and even do our school work. It kind of made me think wow when I saw that in 2006 every eight seconds around forty babies were born, I can't even imagine what the statistics are now. These videos changed my view on academics because it showed that China and India's college graduates are more the triple the United States. That doesn't necessarily mean that there smarter than us it just means that they have a larger population and the world continues to grow. This made me look at the world differently because there are so many people in this world it almost makes me feel insignificant compared to the population. Technology is evolving fast and I don't even know what to expect in the near future.
After watching these videos, I have realized how much our planet changes within small periods of time. The top ten most popular jobs today did not exist in 2004. The number of people in China makes a single human seem almost insignificant. They have more honor students then we have students. The videos all displayed the importance of the internet. New generations will have to adapt to our changing society as well.
These videos helped me realize how rapidly other countries are growing in population and really made me stop and think about how and why this was the case. For example, China's population is growing so quickly that no other country in the world could possibly keep up with the rate. Technology was also evident as more technology is developed, people need to find new ways to adapt to the new technology.
These four videos really got me thinking about how different life becomes in such short amounts of time. There were so many amazing facts about how China has more advanced people then America even contains. It honestly scares me. Even though the technology coming will help our world improve greatly it also causes problems. It will cause problems amongst each other the most. These days it is hard enough for children to get away from there phones. What will happen when there are more sites and we have more access to new ways to communicate? What will happen when you can no longer protect your children/ adults because the internet is do advanced? New technology will definitely help America when it comes to competing with other countries but what about when it comes to helping Americas people?
After watching these videos I see how people depend on technology. Lots of thoughts rushed through my mind watching theses videos. We are quickly advancing in many ways more jobs are being created. It also changed my view on school/academics because other countries have more graduates than the U.S. This made me look at the world differently because there are so many people, that's another reason why there are more graduates. Technology is evolving fast more jobs are being created and its up to us to keep that going in the future.
After watching these videos, I can quickly see how much the world is changing and how new technology is taking over the world. Its kind of funny when people say that's there's no good books to read or apps to play on but, there's actually 1,000,000 new books published every year and there are 65,000+ phone apps that you can play on. Its crazy how people keep on complaining about all these different things but yet, there's so much out there in the world. We just need to go find them. I also found that in 2006, about every eight seconds around forty babies are born. That is mind-blowing. Technology is an amazing thing but, are we going to use it for the good?
After watching these videos, I was very amazed at the amount of interesting things that we are unaware of in the world. I also was very intrigued by the advancements in technology and our economy. From these videos, I have started to notice the advancements in society more and have realized how much Earth has changed.
The four “Did You Know?” videos really got me thinking about what our world is coming to with the fast technological advances. I was a little startled when they mentioned that such a little computer could outsmart the entire human race. This made me afraid for the future, because I think that we shouldn't put our lives in the hands of "robots". But, there are definitely some "up" sides to the topic, because I know that the technology can really advance our learning styles. We can compact everything onto one device, and help organization, which can long term help our learning. It can also impact our academics by giving us more tools to use in order to make a discovery. The technology can impact my view of the world because I can now see that we can all stay connected more easily, and technology can separate our differences by providing help for each other. My only question would be, how are we supposed to keep up with technology? How will the human race make their mark?
