Mars Cartoon vs. Mars Novel?

Based upon what you viewed within the Disney Mars cartoon excerpt, what are you thinking about comparatively between Disney's version of Mars and how it measures up to Bradbury's version of Mars? Please respond by 2:30p.m. on Oct. 5th, 2016

In the war of the Worlds the Martians would die in the end because they contracted germs from Earths atmosphere. The Martians were all gone because of the small pox that the Earthlings brought and the martians were not immune to it. The wayy that the girl could breathe on Mars is similar to how the mars atmosphere in The Martian Chronicles was breathe-able for Humans.

Some things that were very similar to the Disney Mars and Bradbury's interpretation of Mars is that they don't have very many women and how they think that a human can easily get to Mars without any scientific backing on how to get on Mars and what is there. But then agin, it is fiction. They are very similar into making the Martians seem more hostile than the humans and how space is a hostile place, but Earth men arent.

There are a couple things between the video clip and book that both compare and are different. One of the things that was similar was that the martians wanted to kill the humans when they reached the planet. Another thing was that they were able to breathe on mars without a problem while the air is thinner in the book so they have to conserve their energy. Also there have been conflicts between the martians and the humans, I had said they wanted to kill them but they also just have conflicts that they don't agree on. In the video they made it seem like the martians were invading earth while the book had the humans going there instead.

The Disney Mars makes it seem very cartoony and all of the "people" living there Were all crazy monsters which all looked different. While in The Martian Chronicles Mars is very Earth-like. In the Disney version the martians come to Earth but, in the Martian Chronicles humans venture out to Mars. They made it seem very barbaric on Mars and that they only want to hurt others. Then, in the Martian Chronicles the martians aren't too aggressive, they act like humans and fight like humans but they have their differences.

I noticed that there are some similarities and differences between Disney's version of Mars an Ray Bradbury's book. In Disney's version, Martians died because of the germs from Earth, that relates to Bradbury's version because Martians were wiped out because of the Chicken Pox, which came from Earth. The Martians in Bradbury's version are very human-like with the way they live, look and with almost everything they do but in Disney's version the Martians are more monster like and do not resemble human traits or characteristics.

Bradbury's Mars is more like Earth with martians that act like people. Disney's Mars has all sorts of creators, plants, and animals that are not like Earths.

The Martians would die because of diseases, sound in space, breathing in space, and the Martians are just kind of doing the opposite of what was happening in the Martian chronicles because we are colonizing mars in the book but in this cartoon the Martians at colonizing earth.

Disney's version is a crazy, strange looking planet with strange looking martins, where there are also no women on mars in Disney's version, while Bradbury's martins are relatively human-like and female martins do exist. In Disney's version no water is on mars, and in Bradbury's version there are miles of rivers. In both versions, the martins are viewed as dangerous, and they die from common germs that humans have. I think Bradbury's version is more logical, while Disney's version is more playful and crazy.

In War of the Worlds, which was talked about in this movie, the martians also died from diseases as well in The Martian Chronicles. Both Disney's and Ray Bradbury’s vision of the red planet both have it so that people can breathe on mars. In the cartoon, the genius said that “There is no way life can be on Mars,” however he was clearly wrong, as after he said that, and alien grabbed him. Ray Bradbury's characters always assumed that there was life on mars and his characters accepted that. In Ray Bradbury’s Mars, we went to the martians rather than the martians coming to us like in the cartoon.

I believe that the cartoon was more of a humorous story line while the Martian Chronicles is more serious and metaphorically represents the human race. The cartoon does mentions that alien lifeforms could be harmed by Earth germs like in the book how the Martians die from chicken pox. The woman in the cartoon automatically assumes that the alien is a bad thing. While in the book the humans were more accepting and that let their guard down, causing harm later on.

The biggest differences of the martians in the video and the martians in the book are that the ones in the book look like humans. The martians in the video look like strange creatures while the ones in the book look just like humans. The martians in the book disguise themselves and secretly plot against the humans. The martians in the video chase the humans until they catch them. In both stories the humans don't need a lot of special gear to discover mars. In the video the martians are the clear enemy and the humans have to escape. In the book the humans try to communicate with the martians and ask them questions. Also in the movie the martians are attacking the humans while in the book the humans are exploring the martians home land.

I think that they are very different because in the cartoon the martians are invading earth and the martians. But they are also similar because the martians take in the humans, but then try kill them, in the story they succeed, but not in the cartoon.

Even known the cartoon was far off the real world there are some similarities. There are some similarities like the different ways people had gotten the perspective of mars, that the aliens have died of the different sicknesses on earth and wiped out a whole species. The similarities are that the different authors all had very different ways to perspectives mars, same with the experiences the astronauts had. But in the book there was not ever a good out come, in the cartoon the outcome was silly and not very harmful.

Throughout each of the depictions of Martians by Disney, none are shown as being remotely close to anything we have on our own planet. In the Martian Chronicles, although the Martians are shown as being quite different than humans, in size and other characteristics, they still have human-like features. In Bradbury's story, the inhabitants of Mars are described as having facial features comparable to humans despite being very different in coloration, such as brown skin and glowing eyes.

The lady was screaming out in space, and she was breathing even though there isn’t any oxygen. The Martians died from when the human came on to their planet just like they did in the book. There are different versions depending on the author/ director, and in the film the Martians were invading Earth instead of us colonizing on Mars

The Marshans died by the humans giving them diseases in both the cartoon and the novel. The humans in the novel are the evil creatures to the Marshans but in the cartoon the Marshans were shown as the evil creatures. The Marshans seemed to be the outcasts in both the cartoon and in the novel. Overall both species portrayed each other as the bad species in both of the cartoon and the novel. Marshans in the cartoon were described differently than in the novel but the general idea of what they look like is a little or a lot different than the way that humans look.

There are a few similarities to the video and Bradbury’s book. For example, there were instances where the Martians were killed by Earthen bacteria that are almost harmless to humans, the difference in technology, and humanoid creatures on Mars. However, the Martians were invading Earth, but in the book the humans are inhabiting Mars. There is also a large contrast to what each creator thinks Martians look like, along with many other examples.

The way that I perceived mars in the video was as a violent martian infested planet where the martians are able to travel very fast through out space and also are able to talk on mars. The way that they are similar is because they both want to harm humans on earth and each of them aren't immune to human diseases.

In the Disney version of Mars the Martians are far more intelligent than humans just like in the book. Along with the Martians getting sick from Earth's diseases. In the Disney version the Martians are unusual but in Bradbury's story they didn't look that different from a normal human. Both the stories are similar because in both stories Earth views Mars as a threat.

The Martians in Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles are more humanoid than in the Disney animation. The way life on Mars is shown in the Disney cartoon was more like what people generally think of when they think of 20th century perceptions, although they did use example's from various 20th century works and Bradbury's work is from the same era, The Martian Chronicles seem to be in a totally different sphere of thinking than, for example, H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, and the Disney cartoon was more about that line of thinking than Bradbury, who explored the idea of Mars as a planet civilised in a manner similar to that of Earth, as opposed to the planet being populated by totally abstract creatures in comparison to anything that inhabits the Earth.

In the cartoon we watched and in The Martian Chronicles, the aliens got sick and weren't able to survive because of a human disease. In the cartoon, when the alien got exposed to human germs, it died, and in the Martian Chronicles, a whole city of aliens died due to chickenpox that were spread there when a human when to mars. Also, in the Martian Chronicles, all of the humans so far have died because of the martian and also it the cartoon, the aliens were chasing the girl. A difference is that there were a lot of weird looking aliens in the cartoon and it the Martian Chronicles, they aliens didn't look very different.

The difference I see in the Disney version of mars and the Ray Bradbury version is the martians are described completley different and they aren't human like at all. Although the martaians do get very sick to human deseases like chicken pocs that wouldnt affect people on earth nearly as much.
