"On bended knee is no way to be free
Lifting up an empty cup I ask silently
That all my destinations will accept the one that's me
So I can breath"
Guaranteed By Eddie Vedder
They used a AAAB rhyming scheme. Free, Silently, Me, and final breath.
This shows how when you are down on one begging, you are not free and independent. Whatever you want to do in life will let you breath and they will expect yourself, not the fake self.
"Hip deep in the Pepto,
I got five on her like Ben Folds
I got more tail than that PetCo,
you faker than some Sweet'N Low"
Sweatpants By Childish Gambino
It has an assonance sound of O in words Pepto, PetCo, and Low
There was also a rhyme scheme of ABAA
"We made such a big splash, big crash You'll be my tidal wave"
“Misty” by NateWantsToBattle
This is a metaphor for being really impactful in the life of the person singing.
"Just like fire burnin' out the way, if I can light the world up for just one day..."
-"Just like fire", by P!nk
This lyric set is a metaphor for saying that she wants to be herself, and do things in her own way.
"If we bump into each other on the crowded street,
It's not us no more, its just you and me"
- Marc E. Bassy, You and Me
This lyric is poetic because it relates to the feeling of bieng away from someone and having to get over the feeling of liking someone and uses the words street and me to rhyme.
"I've been down so long it look like up to me"
Fake Love by Drake
This line in his song "Fake Love" is a metaphor saying that things haven't been going good and now that things are just a little bit better his whole life seems good
"But the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high (Colorado)"
Rocky mountain high by John Denver
This stanza from the poem roughly follows a ABAB rhythmic pattern. It also has exaggerated statements such as having it rain fire from the sky to make the song more "intense" in a way.
"My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies,
fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die."
This lyrics has personification.
It seems we living the American dream
But the people highest up got the lowest self-esteem
The prettiest people do the ugliest things
For the road to riches and diamond rings
We shine because they hate us
floss cause they degrade us- Kanye West
These lyrics use a AABBCC rhyme scheme.
"Say a prayer for the family
Drop a coin for humanity" - Green Day
They rhyme and they also give of a vibe of desperation about how they are begging for people to have humanity. It sounds like they are singing about the state of people and their actions.
"Got no patience, cause I'm not a doctor
Girl why is you lying, girl why you Mufasa"
- Childish Gambino (3005)
These lines take advantage of the fact that patience sounds like patients, and how lying sounds similar to lion to create two puns.
"Ayy, boy is good and he knows it, he don't say it, he shows it
I'm just like DeRozan, if I shoot it, it goes in"
- kyle (Ispy)
These two lines show us that we can be good and we don't need to say it we pretty much just show it when we do what we are good at and you can compare yourself to a professional in that feild because you can become that good at anything.
"Got no patience, cause I'm not a doctor Girl why is you lying, girl why you Mufasa"
-Childish Gambino (3005)
This line makes it seem like the word "patience" seem like the word "patients" which a good play on words. (PUNS)
"Why'd you come, you knew you should have stayed
I tried to warn you just to stay away
And now they're outside ready to bust
It looks like you might be one of us"
-Heathens by Twenty one pilots
These lyrics have a rhyme scheme of AABB where the last words of the sentence "Stayed" and "away" Rhyme and the next two last words "Bust" and "Us" rhyme.
I was absent the day this was assigned.
"You left me here like a chalk outline
On the sidewalk waiting for the rain
To wash away
(Wash away)
You keep coming back to the scene of the crime
But the dead can't speak and there's nothing left to say anyway
All you left behind
Is a chalk outline" ( Three days grace "chalk outline")
The pattern of the song has a repetitive tune that causes it to rhyme.
Are you searching for purpose?
Then write something, yeah it might be worthless
Then paint something then, it might be wordless
Pointless curses, nonsense verses
You'll see purpose start to surface
This song is Kitchen Sink by Twenty One Pilots. It has a repetitive rhyme scheme. I also think the lyrics are very meaningful. For example,
“Then write something, yeah it might be worthless
Then paint something then, it might be wordless”
Because it symbolizes that you can do anything just as long as you have a purpose to it .
We can't both become the same
Pawn that's made to fall
Oil that tastes like blood
Stole the summer scent
~ Jars by Chevelle
there is a lot of symbolism in this song
"Please be silent and open your mind
And close your eyes if you will be so kind
Now you may see what is beautiful and so clear
To what is very near"
This means that you stay silent and imagine. Imagining something so beautiful and what seems very close.
"Got a feeling that I'm going under, but I know that I'll make it our alive
If I quit calling you my lover, Move on.
You watch me bleed until I can't breathe
I'm shaking falling onto my knees,
and now that I'm without your kisses I'll be needing stitches.
Tripping over myself i'm aching begging you to come help
And now that I'm without your kisses I'll be needing stitches"
Stitches-Shawn Mendes
I think this song symbolizes poetry methods in so many ways. First off it uses a lot of Rhymes and also it repeats itself a lot. This poem also shows a lot pf metaphors. For example when the song says " Under" and "lover" those two words rhyme so it creates a catchy sort of vibe. Also when the song states " your words cut deeper than a knife" this shows the metaphors of this song. When really the words did not actually cut deeper than a knife they just caused the mental pain.
"Moving through this sunny weather
Found it nice to be together
But I don’t know about forever
Is that ok?"
Maybe Baby - Laurel
I think that this song represents types of poetry in some ways. One way is that it rhymes which appeals to the readers more and makes it easier to read. Another way that this song represents poetry is that it has connotation. The connotation that it has is that the girl is in a relationship that she wants to have but doesn't want to commit to.
"This cursed popularity
Why won't it go away
But why am I
getting lonlier"
Still Lonley- Seventeen
This song has a lot of symbolism because it is in a different language you wouldn't except it to be sad because it has such a upbeat sound track. By me not understanding what was orginally being sad it adds so much more because its something not fimilar so before seeing what they are saying you are guessing off the vibes and by finding out you have much deeper understanding then orginally hearing what it is saying.
"You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love
Or you can start speaking up" -Sara Bareilles
This song is about being brave and standing up for what you believe in. Being able to control your own destiny and never standing down. It sends a great message to everyone to show their real personalities and their true strengths.
