This text shows a real advancement in technology that's a lot sooner than it really is because we are almost to 2018 and don't have people living mars. Moving away from technology and more towards the social/emotional piece of the story, what is the civilization like? How have people evolved to be able to survive on mars. What technology was initially used to support the human body then eventually faded as as they evolved? The martians don't seem to have too happy of a relationship but are they all like that?
So far in reading this book I am connecting with the way the married couple on mars acts to the married couples on Earth. Overall there are not to many differences between Bradbury’s martians and humans today. The martians however, seem to have almost a 6th sense because they seem to know bits and pieces about something that is going to happen or they know when something is about to happen. This comes to them in the form of songs and poems and dreams.
I think that the author gave the human race a bit too much credit. We haven't made it to mars yet and it's 2017. But it's on the horizon along with more opportunities for human advancement/expansion. This leads me to believe that at the pace that the world in evolving and advancing that colonization of other planets/moons are in reach. It also makes us think if there is something else out there and if they are wondering the same thing.
I think humanity is probably far behind in technology than other life if there is any. The text makes me wonder if alien life would be completely naive to everything we did and wouldn't even understand body language or if they somehow speak the same language and understand us. Would they be hostile towards us or welcoming?
That humanity is a foreign thing, and being human is crazy, and maybe even disgusting. I have a lot of questions that I know can't be answered, so I kind of have to fill in the blanks myself. It's hard to think of humans being the alien type of species. To the martians, we naturally go back to thinking they are human, even if we know they are martians. Because we are used to reading books about humans. So to read a book that's all about martians, you have to remind yourself that martians are the main, common, and dominant species of the book.
Reading The Martian Chronicles text stirs thinking for me about humanity and our future. Questions arise regarding culture such as how would we communicate with them and would they have similar lifestyles to us? Based off of history, we can infer that if we send people to permanently stay on a planet, they will likely try to revolt and become their own group of people. Because there are so many bad things on this planet, would we try to instill a sort of utopia, where people from Earth or other places could oversee them?
this is telling us that things are still not the best and that most people are trying to improve the way of living and how to make things and the fact that people try and fail show that there giving the earth and humanity a chance at surviving for a long time. were try witch make's me think that people aren't giving up on humanity just yet and the fact that they have the will to survive shows a lot of peole that opition to give life a meaning besides develipment.
Humans have come a very long way in just the last 200 years. We’ve created thousands of inventions and constructed a functioning society. So what’s next for Earth. I believe the next step for progress is space travel. We’ve been to the moon, but what about Mars? I think we need to send people to Mars as soon as possible. With Global Warming going on, many scientists are saying we will need to leave planet Earth. We need somewhere to go if we have to leave, and Mars could be a potential destination. It’s important though to explore it before we send all our people there. If we can get a man on Mars to gain some information, we can make progress and be better prepared for the day that we might have to leave the Earth.
I think this shows how weird things are on new planets such as bee guns and blue mist among other things. I think that the humans will have good technology but the martins will have way better stuff than them and if they go to was then they will die. this also shows that humans have good rockets to get to mars
These stories make me contemplate where humanity will be years from today. Will we still be in schools for example. If so how more advanced will out technology be. Our technology is already improving day by day. We’ve come so far from having no technology to having smartphones and computers we take everywhere. Extrapolations are a huge part of where humanity is heading.
Based on the text it almost feels like the events and circumstances are real, and that all the things happening could be possible in the real world today. How have we not found alien life forms yet? How have we not found the cure for cancer? It seems to me that some of these ideas are right there in front of us, but nobody in the world happens to know the answers. At this point, when seeing all these cool things on the NASA website, and these neat ideas grown by Bradbury, I do believe now that the government is holding things back from civilians. During these readings, I am really challenged to consider we are all being tricked and lied to. Also, in my head it seems like it would be super easy to create a utopia. Why can't people agree, trust, and accept one another, so that the world would be better for everybody and we can all work together as the human race?
I think that humanity's progress is good for where we are right now, but there's still much to improve and grow on. Considering how many people in the past said in stories that we should be living on Mars today, or we should have been a few years ago, we might as well consider ourselves behind. One of the reasons for this is probably because of the lack of funding. I think that politicians need to dedicate money for space travel, because far far in the future, Earth does eventually die, and we need to make progress and live on habitable planets. Nothing will really matter if we don't continue space exploration. I think that with the funding we currently have for space exploration, we're doing our best. The reading of these stories challenges the reader to consider what would happen if we started living on planets, meeting aliens, or just travelling through space in general. If we were to meet aliens, would they want to help us? What would they think of us? Would they get jealous like Yll? Would we even be able to communicate with them? If we actually found aliens, they most likely wouldn't speak English, and we have to think about what happened before any language was made on English; how did we build languages? How did we figure out what to call everything? In conclusion, space exploration is vital and we should always consider what happens when we do expand to other planets.
Back in the 50's people thought we would be on mars in the future and me living in the future and we still do not have humans on mars so our technology isn't as advanced as the book thought we would be.
I’m thinking that if these were his ideas of what aliens were like, he would be pleased to know that we are not far from his ideas today. We have made lots of progress since then, and when writing about what a book was like in the story, is not far from being a reality today. Holograms are a real thing that exist today, example: (www.cnn.com/videos/tech/2015/05/08/3d-light-printing-voxiebox-star-wars-orig.cnn). It also challenges us to consider, how far are we from the other discoveries? Months? Years? If we have already achieved something from the book, we are one step closer to being an “out-of-this-world” world.
After reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Brandbury, the text supported how life on Mars is similar to the life on Earth. In the story, the martians act in ways similar to humans such as their relationships, ways of life, and technology. Humanity has progressed over the years with advancements in technology and society, and the book can also relate to how humans live their lives today. In the story, the martians have a hard time understanding people different from themselves, humans, and vice versa. On the NASA website, the world is making so many new discoveries, and the book challenges the reader to consider how we may be close to making new discoveries.
After reading The Martian Chronicles text, by Ray Bradbury, I realize how similar the book makes Earth and Mars sound. In the book, the characters act in such human way, and they don’t even realize it. They make comments about the human they see, the ship, and even the atmosphere of Earth, and they don’t see all the similarities. Since the book was written so long ago, we can see all of the advancements NASA and us as a community have made. These stories challenge you to consider how different and advanced technology has become over the years, that who knows how much life is truly out there.
After Reading the Martian Chronicles, i think the text showed how other people can be a lot like humans, and their advancement in technology. As you can see, the Martian people had advancements in technology, like bee guns and others. in the world today, we have made those advancements too, but slower. NASA has already traveled to mars, and i think we are steps away from making a big progression in the knowledge of mars.
After reading some of the Martian chronicles by Bradbury, I have seen that each planet has made its own progress regarding the fact that both have different technology and systems than the other. We are similar because of how we both have something of or relating to a "common family". In today's society there many great relationships, but each one does hit a rough patch just like the martians do. We also think and know about other planets and if they could sustain life. The only thing that neither of us don't know is that there is life on both. These stories challenge you by making you think of how this could actually be the case for Earth in the future. With all of NASA's improvements we are steps away from going to Mars.
They cant deal with outsiders and they thin k normal colors are unusual. They have a similar way of doing things like us and they do things backwards. Nasa has traveled to mars but not seen any life.
I don't think that they are getting as far as they were panning. The humans were asking these questions and they just get pushed off onto someone else. They don't get the answered that they need to the point where they don't know what to do.
I think that it is interesting that in the book we where able to get to Mars by the year of 1999 which is not at all true in the real world. We are still trying to find a way to get to Mars. So it is clear, in the book the humans seem very advanced. This makes me think that maybe we could be doing things like getting to Mars but instead we are focusing on war with Iraq and that NASA is now shut down.
After reading The Martian chronicles by Ray Bradbury, it made me stop and realize just how fast we are moving and advancing our technology. It also made me question where we will be in years to come. Although this text was written in the future it may not be as far fetched of an idea as many people may think. I believe that within years to come, sending humans to Mars could be a very real idea and not as much of a fairytale as it may seem today. This book also shows the reader just how similar and different martians and humans are. It also allows the reader to get an understanding of both points of view and interpret what may cause other conflicts in the future. However overall the text allows the reader to think about what life could be like in the future.
In Ray Bradbury’s “The Martian Chronicles,” I am contemplating that, although humans have progressed so much and due to technology and other advances, I think that the Martians will be more simple-minded than the people from Earth, therefore making communication incredibly challenging. The reason I think this is because so far, throughout Bradbury’s story, technology has not commonly been mentioned, which leads me to believe that when the people from Earth land on Mars, there will be a lot of arguments and eventually leading to death. This story challenges me to consider what life would be like if there was no progress on Earth. Would people constantly be fighting, and so much that entire races are wiped out? Humans will never know the answer to this, for every day, there are plenty of things being upgraded, updated, and renovated.
