There are several artists who have made pieces relating to Homer’s Odyssey. Many of the pieces contain pictures of Odysseus himself. There is one picture of Eurykleia washing Odysseus’ feet as she discovers the scar on his ankle. There is also one of Odysseus’ ships being attacked, and one of the relief from Odysseus returning home. Some important symbols are spears and staffs which occur in many of the pictures. The main ideas of the story can be told by looking through the artwork found on this pottery.

I think that in the vase art the artists' message concerning The Odyssey was mainly just retelling the story. They put characters and creatures on the vases which really describes what happened in a particular event in Odyssey. A lot of symbols are shown as well like an olive wood staff representing Athena; there are a lot of connecting things from the story to the art. It also seems like there are some heroic elements in it. Odysseus is shown as the main characters in most, if not all pieces of art. However, the whole story is told by Odysseus so it makes sense for him to be in most events and pieces of art. The art really tells the story.

They really like to capture what happened in "The Odyssey". Athena holds a spear-like weapon, showing her relation to war. The piece of art that shows Odysseus and Circe, shows that they were together at a certain point in time. The student learning from Homer piece, shows that Homer is holding a stick. Homer's students had to recite poems and stories told to them, such as "The Odyssey". The vase art piece of the "Victorious Charioteer", shows a horse. The horse is wielded by a goddess who is giving him a man a prize for winning something. The horse is a prize. In the mid-sixth century B.C., people didn't have signatures to trademark themselves. A painter had favored Pegasus as his trademark.

There are many different artists who created pieces about the odyssey, but I think the main idea and the theme that they are trying to convey is pretty much just retelling the story. A lot of them made Odysseus look superior and really heroic. He was kind of the focal point of the most of the art, which shows how important he is.

A lot of these projects and drawings in the pictures look like all of the gods from the Odyssey and the actions they they are doing from the stories. It kinda looks like the pictures are telling a story or telling the story from the Odyssey. Some of the pictures look like parts of the movie that we watched too. In one of the pictures someone was giving another person something and that could be a metaphor for giving something mentally like confidence or encouragement.

I noticed that there is a lot of artwork made about the Odyssey. I thought that this was cool because it expands the book into another form of literature. Many of the key scenes were portrayed, which helps to give a visual to what we read. The cup that portrayed the suitors being killed was interesting because of the visual. It showed a man trying to pull an arrow out of his back, a man hiding behind an overturned table, and a frightened man. I liked the commentary about one of the men. “...holds up his hands to stop the inevitable.” This was cool because it showed that Odysseus would spare no survivors, and he would kill them before they got to him.

He uses creatures in the story and makes them his onward how he portrays them. He uses different themes on each to show different emotions and how he takes in the stories. The author shows Odysseus as a very heroic person and uses different elements of space and design to show it. The author shows emotions through background images a well.

The clay vases retell the story of The Odyssey. Images of different events and challenges Odysseus faced on his journey home. Different symbols and creatures represent different things. Odysseus seems to be the center of all the vases.

What I noticed about the message concerning the Odyssey was that the artwork retold Odysseus's journey through his artwork. In the artwork, the artist illustrates the many different setbacks and people that Odysseus encounters throughout his 20 year journey. It also further explains many of the characters, such as Athena, as well as explaining many different experiences Odysseus has, such as Penelope and Odysseus in disguise.

After viewing the following black and red-figure vase art from The Odyssey In Art, I noticed that the artists’ message concerning The Odyssey directly resembles the many journeys Odysseus encountered throughout the book. Throughout the vases/art, there are several heroic figures and scenes from the books. For example, the vase with Odysseus and Circe indicated the story from book 10, when Odysseus forces the goddess Circe to remove the magic spell that turned his men into swine. The art helps show the reader/viewer the expression and scene of each story.

His art shows the fights Odysseus had against the gods and goddesses. He uses graphic images of fighting to show the emotion in the battles and Odysseus is illustrated being the tough warrior. Most of the sculptures show the struggle Odysseus had to get home and struggle against the gods/goddesses. A main theme in these art pieces is him attacking others, which is against most heroes because most heroes only attack when they have to.

I notice that the artist tries to portray the events that had occurred in the book by having the clay people on the vase reenact the event. Such as when Eurykleia tried convincing Penelope that her husband had returned home. This was shown on the vase when Penelope had her back turned against Eurykleia and Eurykleia had her hands out which helped show she was trying to convince Penelope that she was not lying and trying to trick her.

Based on what i can tell from the vases, it seems that she/he is just retelling the story. They put many of the same stories on the vases we hear in the story. there are many important symbols that are key to understanding the story. It portrays Odysseus as being hero, and being someone that not everyone would agree with. I think that this story could be understood through many different perspectives, and i think this artwork is retelling the story through a different perspective.

I have noticed a lot of spears which could symbolize war, and in the images on the vases it almost looks like they are used as barriers. Also, nearly every single person on the vases is a wearing some type of helmet or headdress of a sort. Warriors wear more combat-ready headgear, while royalty wear lighter, better-looking types of headgear. The art shown is very old timed, and a lot of the vases are broken and cracked in parts. Lastly, even though these war symbols are shown, most of the people look very similar and peaceful.

I think that is is really cool of the things that was made. Some of the things that i thought where cool is when the suitors are dying and being attack by Odysseus. This shows that they are scared of him and when he attack them he killed all of them because they where trying to get his wife in mirage while he was gone and they where also very rude and he could not let his kingdom be like that. So He decided to kill them and as the Vase shows they are running from him a few even naked because they are so scared of Odysseus. Another thing is a lot of them and trying to put there hands up to block stuff or surrender a few of them even hid behind tables because they where so scared that he would kill them and in the end he did.

One thing that I found that seemed very interesting is how the entire story of The Odyssey is told trough nothing but pottery and painting, which is something you would never find in modern artworks. But one thing that I noticed was not correct is how, on the pot that shows Circe (for some reason named Kirke in the article) was giving out potions to Odysseus' men in the book. But they are turning into many different animals instead of just swines.

These vases a very interact and delicate peaces of art. I feel that they convey the story just as well as a piece of paper or book. The art work showed and told the story of the journey that Odysseus took to get where he was at the end of the books. I also noticed that there's a whole lot of artwork made that depicts Odyssey. This helps prove that his story is very popular and well know. This is because almost any one can connect to his story.

There are many artists that have created art in regards to The Odyssey. The artists show different scenes and scenarios from the story, they just retell it. On the vases, it shows the hardships and struggles that Odysseus went through, and he is portrayed as the heroic fighter. These art pieces show him in battle fighting others, and he seems to always be victor. Each piece is so emotional and describes Odysseus’s journey so well.

The vase art has a deeper meaning a story perhaps. They show Odysseus and his fights or scenes he saw in the story. He was the main character in all the Vases. He was the one who told the story it seems in vases. They also show the determination that Odysseus has.
