In the cartoon I instantly think of what the martians in the book look like compared to the cartoon. I also wondered what the animals and creatures on mars in the book rather than the large books and the octopus looking human and the giant lion. in the cartoon they mentions UFOs and I wondered how the people got to different planets in the book. In the cartoon they mentioned martians being on earth hiding within us and i thought about the "dream" in the book.
This cartoon slightly reminded me of the Martian Chronicles just because of the setting they are in but I feel the cartoon made it seem more exciting and strange. I feel like the books goal is to make the martians seem more similar to the human life with smaller differences but the cartoon makes the martians seem totally out of the ordinary. The cartoon definitely did seem more bizarre.
One similarity between the book and the cartoon is that there are animals similar to the ones on Earth. A difference between the two media is that there is no hero (so far) in the story like there usually are in Martian stories. One thing these stories have in common is that Mars is always accurately portrayed as a red desert-like planet. I also think it's interesting that we always assumed that Mars would harbor life, despite not having any concrete evidence.
After watching the video clip in our English class, I discovered many connections to the Martian Chronicles. There were both advanced technology as well as an advanced civilization. It showed Martians on earth.
The video was obviously made before much was known about mars. Even so, this incredibly weird video shows what people thought mars could be in the 1900's. The video explains the history of science fiction stories up to that point, and I can't really explain the second half. Perhaps it was just a touch of disney?
Specs of light on Earth were seen as ways of communication. The cartoon also describes the unique aspect of life on mars. This includes the exotic life forms, language, and culture. For the time period of the creation of the cartoon this idea was completely insane because going even to the moon was over ten years out.
The Disney Mars cartoon video had very many funny cartoons but some that I can relate to today. Of course there was stuff like how the bugs would be very much bigger but we can relate to that because that is the opposite of how big bugs are here. Obviously the video kinda reminded me of an old Disney movies because it was by Disney and I enjoyed that part of the video. A lot of the monsters reminded me of monsters I would see in Monsters INC. and I could relate that to today. Many of the characters and points in the video could be related to today in cartoons, even though it was made so many years ago.
Both in the Martian Chronicles and the short video portray inferences about the unknown, the possible life existent on Mars. Both Ray Bradbury and the video creator formulated their perspectives in the mid to late 1900s. One difference between these two media demonstrations is that in the short story, the Martians are perceived to be similar to humans while in the video, Martians are perceived to be more alien like. The video demonstrated more stereotypical inferences about life on other planets, while Ray Bradbury depicts a more obscure perspective. The Disney video additionally depicted less realistic forms of life. Even throughout these disruptions between the video and the book, both depicted futuristic ways of life on Mars.
The cartoon dealt with more animal types of creatures while The Martian Chronicles is talking about Martians and what I think of as people. Both of them make you wonder if there is life on other planets or just anywhere out ther and if there is, it makes you wonder how different and crazy it might be.
The "Extrapolation" Disney clip makes me think about The Martian Chronicles because the people that "live" on Mars are very different from what us humans look like. It shows many descriptions of what humans on earth think that people of mars would look like. It shows the imagitation of people's minds and how if we don't have an answer to a question then they used extrapolation to give a possible answer, from what they know about what humans look like and Mars' atmosphere and how aliens would have to look like to survive on the specific characteristics of how Mars' planet is. But in the Martian Chronicles the same thing is happening, the author then gets to make up what they believe the Martian's would look like for their story. But when we are reading it we are set with a certain thing in our minds about what these creatures from outer space acts and look.
Some similarities between the two sources is that they both involve aliens from Mars. Although they both talk about these Martians, they both view them in very different ways. The aliens in The Martian Chronicles speak and act human. In the movie, they talk about the aliens being large and scary, completely contradicting The Martian Chronicles version.
The dissimilarities between the two sources are technology and life forms. The technology on Extrapolation is based on a lot of advanced technologies and mars being so intelligent. In the martian chronicles the technology is pretty closed to ours but based on their lives. The life in The Martian Chronicles is similar to Earth in the way the martian's act but they have different life form's and the way they live is different. In Extrapolation, there is a lot of weird creatures and seem to exaggerate more compared to the Martian Chronicles. The Martian Chronicles seems to be more of a realistic version of the life forms that could be on Mars.
The cartoon and the book Martian Chronically definitely have some major differences on martians. This cartoon seems to make martians look like crazy monsters that only ones imagination could come up with, but the book tries harder to make martians seem more human like.
It is the same as the book because they are talking about people being taken up in spaceships and that is really all pages 1-10 talk about and how we are trying to get a signal to them or them to us, like in the book the dream messages. it also related to the book because they are talking about animals or insects that are a lot bigger like how they ride birds in the book. it relates to the book when talking about the human like creatures that live on mars because in the book they are very similar to the earth people. They are explaining how a robot might be the bad guy and controlled by a mad Martin. Could possibly the husband in the book could do when the wife gets picked up. The shows says how there is no life on mars and that is what most people think and in the book the people going to mars may not know there is life and may be hostile toward the martians.

In the Extrapolation/Disney Video Clip of Mars, there seem to be multiple similarities and dissimilarities to The Martian Chronicles. In the Disney Video Clip, older theories about life on Mars claimed that the Martians thoroughly enjoyed music, whereas music was also mentioned in The Martian Chronicles. It was also mentioned in the Disney Clip that the Martians would be monsters that look and act completely different from humans, but in The Martian Chronicles, it seems that the Martians act quite like humans and don't look extremely monstrous. Overall, the older ways of thinking about life on Mars seems to be a little bit odd as well as interesting.
After watching the Extrapolation'/ Disney Video Clip of Mars video, I gathered connections between this film’s information and The Martian Chronicles book. One connection between both sources included possible realistic lifeforms on Mars, instead of garbled lifeforms hard for humans to fathom. Possible advanced technology and advanced civilizations could exist and were introduced in both the film and The Martian Chronicles. In the film, it was theorized that aliens could hide among us as shapeshifters and telepathize with each other. Shapeshifting lifeforms may later be introduced in The Martian Chronicles, as telepathy had already been described.
After watching the video I had thought "we must be mad" for speaking on a topic we know almost nothing about, this of course only applies to those whom made the video during the time that it was made as well as Ray Bradbury who at the time of making the Martian book didn't know very much about Mars too, although the wild imagination, and the mystery seems intriguing to speak on.
The video clip of mars was mostly very different to the "Martians Chronicles". In this video most of the stories described Martians as creepy aliens with strange body parts while in the Martian Chronicles they're described as almost human-like. Another thing that was very different was how all the stories inside of the video the martians knew about humans or vice versa. There was only one similarity I could detect so far which was how the setting was described. But overall there weren't too many connections between the video and Martian Chronicles.
I didn't really get to read the beginning, but so far this makes me think of a couple different things. There were a lot of different aliens and some that had features that I imagine the Martians having. I feel as though some of the monsters were straight out of a horror movie or maybe a dream.
The 'Extrapolation'/ Disney Video Clip of Mars makes me think about the Martain Chronicles because the way life is like on Mars is very different from how it is on Earth. It shows human's visions of what they think life is like on Mars. It shows how humans believe they live, talk, and act. The Martain Chronicles shows us how the author puts a more realistic twist on what he thinks life on Mars is while making us question our own lives.
The "Extrapolation" and Disney Video Clip made me think about how people from a past time period saw the future for humans. The Disney clip was made in the '50s, during a time when many new discoveries were being made and almost every aspect of people's lives were changing. The Martian Chronicles really makes me think about how if we never were involved in the space race or never bothered to make new scientific discoveries, how different our life would be.
