The Simpsons episode about Homer's Odyssey is obviously a parody of the actual story. The episode satirizes the various practices and beliefs that the ancient Greeks believed in.
The Simpsons video clip satirizes Homer's poems by making the entire Trojan War, as well as Odysseus' journey home, seem like one long party. The Simpsons does this by adding music and irreverent jokes the whole time. Otherwise, though, the Simpsons does a good job of covering all of the information and trials that Odysseus goes through in an easy to understand, funny way.
It talks about Homer's Odyssey and displays the book nicely. It shows Oddyseus after they had won the Trojan War returning to Ithaca and getting rejected by the gods because he had not given a sacrifice.
After watching The Odyssey video excerpt from the Simpsons I noticed how Homer's character demonized certain traits as well as being kind and thinking of others. Homer laying Odysseus created a self-indulgent character depicting the character. The barbaric traits portrayed ere based on biases. The parody included a comedic addition to the adventurous story.
Odysseus mocks the trojans because of their lack of knowledge of what lay inside the horse in which he does secretly. The Zeus accurately pushed down on the humans in the Simpsons like he had before, sending their ships off course to the crazy islands. Athena loses trust in his husband and holds a contest for a new one.
The video was about the greek war where they gave the king a giant wooden horse, they accepted it and then the people snuck out of the horse and killed them. Then it was showing how the people were on their way home and Poseidon blew them off course to the "Crazy Islands".
This episode puts the story in very simple terms. It demonstrates how stories that we think of follow the basis of this story. Punishment by the gods is existent. It shows a justice system made by the gods. In this episode, Odysseus’ men don’t open a bag when they get set off route. It shows how sometimes things are often misleading. In the episode, Homer eats his men when they are turned into pigs while he frees his men from this state of life when they are turned into pigs in the book.
In the Simpson's video clip, it shows basically what they say in the book. It just uses the iconic Simpson's characters and turns into the characters in the Odyssey. It does basic up some parts of the story, and moderns up some parts of it like adding jokes about the OJ trail, and playing some music that was probably popular back then.
They were making fun of the trojan horse exchange, The fight was also made fun of by exaggerating ho it was fought. They were also making fun of the Gods that were talked about like Zeus and Posidean. They had a face of Posidean blowing them the wrong way showing the unfortunate event that happened to them. They showed the sirens singing and Homer making fun of how ugly they are. They also showed them getting turn into pigs after they landed. They showed Odysseus getting home and defeating the people trying to take his wife.

In the video, the dad pretends so be the entire army taking in the Trojan horse as a gift. In the video there were only three greek gods. The dad thinks the cloud is mad at him when it's actually the greek god mad at him. When he and his friends are on the boat, there is a mention of the Syrians. The hear them singing and when they see them they turn around because they're hideous. A girl on another island gives them a drink which turns his friends into pigs and he accidentally eats all of them not realizing they're his friends. Just like in the book, he reunites with his wife after not seeing her for a long time.
I think the Episode from the Simpsons put a very fun turn on the Odyssey and put the scary adventures that Odysseus went through into a joking manner. They modernized a lot of things going on in the story too instead of sticking to the classic. They did put in a lot of the journeys odysseus went on though.
Odysseus had to fight to win the battle while they just kind of walked on in. They are all really careless and don't seem to care where they go. They get pretty rowdy and nothing is taken seriously. Although Circe was there along with the gods.
Haha funny Simpsons video and satirical funny pretty haha laugh
In the Simpsons, they make fun of the Odyssey by making fun of people such as the looks of the Gods and the addition of other characters from the show. They also apply some modern reference and jokes while also using the topics of The Odyssey.
In the clip they talk about how they think the war has gone on for too long and are presenting it in a way we have never seen before. Odysseus had to fight in the battle and ship all the way back home and is shown in the short film where it’s represented differently. Oddyseus men said that after the town was destroyed they should give them a sheep has their gift. All the Greek Gods were shown sitting in the castle kind of in a way I never really imagined.

The simpsons simplified the journey and trojan war a lot but they also made the story really funny. The Simpsons make it a lot shorter and made fun of how the gods cheated Odyssey and his crew like how close they got home and then how they sent themselves far away once again
