How would This Too Shall Pass and White Knuckles by Okay Go violate the societal norms set forth by the councils in Anthem? Looking beyond the obvious, how do the videos exhibit the antithesis of what is valued in Anthem's society? Would Equality be pleased with Okay Go's performances, designs, and visions for their music and art? Please include one quotation from Anthem within your response to prove your view(s). This blog response should be completed in class after we view the videos.

both would violate the norms in this society because they are different from what would be expected. they show no pattern, no system, they would not be expected in this society because it is not normal to the society to have something like this which is different from everything else that they know. equality would be pleased with these performances because they show the differences that equality is escaping. the quote from the golden one, "you walk but our brothers crawl." this quote shows that equality is different from the rest which is kind of represented in the performances
This would not pass in Anthem. There is individuality, and creativity. There are diverse ideas which are not allowed in Anthem. There are TV's and technology that people in Anthem don't even have. The music itself would not be allowed. Something like this would never pass in Anthem.
It violates it in so many ways. One way is they are using technology, this is something that is not allowed. They are also singing and there is bright colors, emotions. In Anthem emotions, technology, and honestly just exciting things are not allowed there. The whole world is dull. I think that equality would be ok with it, but he would be very overwhelmed, I think he would think it's amazing and have many many questions. "We are singing because we are happy," we answered the one of the Home Council who reprimanded us. ... For, as it has been explained to us, men are free and the earth belongs to them; and all things on earth belong to all men; and the will of all men together is good for all; and so all men must be happy." That is a long quote, however it shows how everything in this video goes agains the rules of Anthem's society.
This would not get passed because there were people doing their own thing and working on it b themselves selfs and in the anthem, you do everything as one, not by yourself. There is too much creativity as well. Anthem does not have technology as well.

this to shall pass goes aginst anthems ideas for the whole machine they made would have to take intelligence and creativity even though in anthem both of those things are not allowed in the world of Anthem. also the people in the video seem really happy to have made it wich is another bad thing in the anthem world just like how Prometheus made the light bulb. In White Knuckles, the same things happen lots of creativity lots of intelligence being shown which the council hates. I also think that the fact that they trained the dogs and they had pets I don't think the council would like that. I know that the council hates this for on page 19 it states that "we are one in all and all in one. there are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever." this shows that the council does not like individuality they like all people to be the same also in both songs they are seen to be stretching social norms even for today for this is weird in our society. So, if this came to Anthems society they think that everything different is terrible and this is definitely different. On a different note, I think Prometheus would love these songs for this would show him there are humans just like him with itteliginace and creativity. Also, all the colour would hit him like a train. He would defiantly love it. So in conclusion, I think that the council of anthem would hate these songs and want everything in them to burn and the pyre but Prometheus would love it.
"This Too Shall Pass" and "White Knuckles" seem to contradict the beliefs in Anthem because they both showcase creativity, individuality, and more. The videos show individuality because the contents of the video are unique to others. The first video can also be a representation of the wires conducting electricity inside of the light bulb to get light. Just like the light bulb, it took a lot of time and precision to get it just right. "We stretched our hands to the wire, and we saw our fingers in the red glow" (Rand 60). The first video can be seen as the actual process and steps of the electricity being conducted. Nothing this precise or technological seems to be allowed or present in Anthem.

In "This Too Shall Pass," and "White Knuckles," it shows lots of creativity, so therefore in contrasts a lot from "Anthem." In "Anthem" everyone has to follow rules because it the book it says, "We strive to be like all our brother men, for all men must be alike," and be the same but these videos show how much creativity there can be. I do think Equality would be please with these performances because Equality rebels against the rules so he would find these performances fascinating.
Equality is okay with people and things being different. Knowing that he is not allowed to talk to the other gender or have feelings he still does both. He has broken so many rules and he is ok with it. Saying this, I think Equality would be ok with the singing and technology in the video.
Both of these would break the standards of this community because they are different from what would be anticipated. They show no pattern in this culture, no method, they won't be expected, because it's not natural for society to have anything like this that is different from everything else they know. Justice can be fulfilled in these performances because they reveal the inequalities that equality prevents. The golden quote, "You're walking, but our brothers are crawling," reveals that this quote indicates that Equality varies from the majority of what is portrayed in the performances.

These ideas would not pass in the anthem because There is diverse thinking going on here which is not allowed. the leaders of the council want to keep everyone the same and this might create a revolt against the government.
These ideas would not pass in the anthem because their government wants every one to be the same and this showes them being different.
This Too Shall Pass and White Knuckles by Okay Go violate the societal norms set forth by the councils in Anthem, a futuristic book, in many different ways. First, the atmosphere in both videos is very joyful, but in Anthem, Equality the main character has noticed, "The heads of our brothers are bowed. The eyes of our brothers are dull,” revealing the obedient citizens are tired, and naturally sad. Second, in the creative process most likely each member of Okay Go had their say, celebrating their differences while Equality knows that "...our brothers are silent for they dare not speak the thoughts of their minds. For they must agree with all..." Additionally, each item of the complex mechanism in the videos is different, and yet each work as a part of a whole, however in Anthem their moral code is "We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE. One indivisible and forever,” showing that Anthem society does not possess the uniqueness that the videos do. Throughout Anthem, Equality truly sees these limitations, and their consequences. Because of this realization he is trying to help his fellow brothers embrace exactly what Okay Go's performances, designs, and visions for their music and art represent: Happiness, and individuality. So I think Equality would wonder and approve Okay Go’s videos, and their aspects.
This would not be allowed in Anthem. In both of theses viseos there was creativity, music, and individuality. The music and the ideas in both of the videos would be be allowed in Anthem. I think that equality would be pleased with these performances because he likes different, he would also like the designs because he likes light and the voodoos are very bright.

In Anthem, this would be considered very very odd and different where there should be no difference, all equality. In both of these videos, there is so much creativity that in Anthem would make you an outcast and a traitor to society. I think that Equality would be very happy with these videos because he would have found something different and beautiful just like how he is different and embraces it. And Equality would be very happy with the amount of light and happiness shown in these videos, so that is how Equality would react to these videos.
These videos would violate the societal norms set forth by the councils in Anthem because they are different from all other music videos. In "Anthem" differences are not celebrated, but punished. In our society, differences are not punished, but celebrated.
