In the Nextel Video, they satirically recreate Romeo and Juliet by fast forwarding the play and inserting the important parts. They used telephones as communication and all of the events that happened in the video actually happened in the play.
It was a very veery quick version of the book, and they were all using cell phones.

And also it is making fun of the way teens talk with text speak and short answers to conversations instead of how Shakespeare really put thought into the dialogues instead of mindless conversation that happens more today than it should

The video updates Romeo and Juliet by adding cell phones and having Romeo and Juliet use modern day language. The man at the end also makes fun of how they are "kids", saying that they fall in love fast and hard.
The Nextel commercial brings in the elements of new technology with thee cellphones, and the deaths were so immediate, and this was more comical whereas the actual play was a tragidy. Obviouslly the actual play was hundreds of pages long and this way a mere 30 seconds. The technology was really the only 'update' in this impersination.
This commercial seems to prove that communicating by technology doesn't make a difference in the end, and doesn't prove much. It makes fun of them because thechnology doesn't change the result in the story that Romeo and Juliet die in the end. This represents the story of Romeo and Juliet and satirally makes fun of the story line comically. What makes it funny, is all the sound effects with the intertwninf sound of the walkie talkie.

The commercial also scoffs the play and the events that occur within the show for example the balcony scene when Juliet says she loves him and he responds with "ditto".

If Romeo and Juliet had a way to like they did in this commercial they probably would've been able to go on and they wouldn't have died. Because the entire reason they die is due to miscommunication. So they would lived if they had modern phones and all that.

Also, it points out the faults in the writing and then sort of ridiculous aspects and planning of the story are.Even though Romeo and Juliet is considered to be such a great story and very well written, I still think that there are obvious faults in the planning of the story.
