I thought that the part about homecoming was really touching. We all know that feeling. I also thought that it was cool how when he got back home that he disguised himself as a beggar and that the wife waited for him.

I enjoy mythology, and when the vide said that it was a way to explan things or even an early form of science. It explained a lot of things. Also when it said that the gods created the role but it's up for the mortals to act it out, this was really enlightening.

Odyssey has a big ego. he is very cocky and just to put him before everyone else. He also did some nice things that made him a hero. But, he also did some bad things. Some of these were taking his crew into the 6 headed creature. 6 people died because he put him self before other people. That is why he survived instead of other people.

The Odyssey shows a single man think of himself, but he wants to get home so he can be with his family and become king once again. It also shows a man how he is not like a God and he struggles. Also that man can always keep moving forward.

The whole story line is based on how he has to brag about his win over the cyclops. Because of the choices he makes he is pushed off track. However he keeps hope. Without hope he wouldn't have kept the drive that allowed him to make it home.

In the Odyssey background video you learn about the Odessy. Some of the things I learned about this character or "god" is that he is very powerful, Cauchy, and selfish. He has a strong love of himself and always wants to protect himself. He looks forward to going home and relates to the people on Apollo 13 in this video. There are many people in this world who think they are above the others and who will do anything to protect themselves and get ahead. I personally think this video and the ideas behind it relate to Anthem. In Anthem the forbidden word is EGO. Odyssey is very egotistical. Since he is powerful he is like the council in Anthem which has power over everyone and creates fear.

Odysseus has a huge ego and believes he is peerless. This leads him to do some good and bad things. A good thing he did was risking going into the cyclops's cave to find food for his men. A bad thing he did was when six of his men died because he didn't want to risk dying. His selfishness clouded his mind and lead him to make a bad decision.

My main question for the story of the odyssey is, where did Homer get is inspiration for this story? Did his live closely rate to the story, but use the many perals that Odysseus went though as metaphors for his life? Or was all this about someone closely related to him? Maybe he this was all about his childhood imagination. He also could have written down a story that everyone knew but no one recorded.

The one comment that I can make is that Revenge isn't always a good thing. When Posiden gets revenge for his sons eye, it makes Odysseus weary for home and wanting to go back.

In this short clip I learned how much this contrasted from Anthem In a way that Anthem was all about others. In The Odyssey is all about self and the troubles from within and with the outside world. Also The Odyssey shows the past and Anthem depicts the future.
