It pokes fun at Almost everything About the about the poems. I think that the Simpsons did well with it while they still followed the core of there show. It was interesting how the Simpsons made the Odyssey funny.
The simsons got the jest of it but but it was more fun and it cut out the cyclopes but other than that it think it was almost the same.
The Simpsons add a comedy to the story compared to the book. The Simpsons make fun of the story a little because they insult one of the gods names. In the Simpsons they skip the part oh Odysseus hiding himself. I think the poem is more culture in it than the Simpsons. In the Simpsons they make fun off the story.
The Simpson's version satirizes Odysseus's choices and morals, the foolish decisions they make about the sirens, and how the Gods push them around. The Simpson version does show how the original version is a tad ridiculous in some aspects. It makes me double think Odysseus's actions and his character, and how much of an actual hero he is.
The Simpson's version of The Odyssey satires when Odysseus reaches the sirens, Circe, and the River Styx. This version makes me compare how impossible the whole Odyssey sounds and what actions take place that have no factual backing. However they both rely on the same theme and background knowledge.
The saratize a lot of things in this video clip. One of the main things they make fun of is when Penelope is choosing her suitor. They have people who are wearing afros come in to try to be the suitor. They also make Odysseus cross the river of Styx when he is heading back to Penelope and they play Styx music. They poke fun of Odysseus saying he has to go to Lows when Penelope is confessing her love to him. They obviously didn't have Lowes back then. This is supposed to be a sophistic piece of literature but they try to make it funny or not serious. They also make fun of the Gods and how they punish Odysseus.
In the Simpson's video they really tone down the main Idea of what the story Odysseus is about and then they make fun of the gods and what they are like and they are accurate with what the journey in-tails and then they make fun of it.
The simpsons version makes fun of the bravery of the Odysseus' men and it makes them look stupid instead of brave. They also make Odysseus seem clueless instead of brave and thats why we did what he did. IN the real story he does the things he does out of courage. They also make fun of the gods in the fact that they act like children. They also use the river styx and make fun of them by using the band styx. This version is more comedic and related to the modern world. They also make the suitors seem like clumsy guys just trying to pick up girls
When Odysseus's family wonders where he is, they ship and all of his crew members go to Circe's island she intrigues the men to go drink some bubble juice, and then Odysseus goes over because all of his crew members turn into pigs, and he goes over and eats them. I think it relates to the book by, him going to home to Penelope and explains to her how beautiful she is, and how she still looks the same as when he left. When they are all on the ship they are going to hear the ladies singing but they realize that they are really ugly, and that they are on Crazy Island.
In The Simpsons version they poke fun at the foolishness of the choices the men make at Circe's island and the song of the sirens. Also the ease with which Odysseus takes his home back from the many suitors. It makes the otherwise somewhat boring text more enjoyable and also makes it easier to understand without the old, fancy grammar.
In this short video I think the Simpsons got the main points while making it funny. They did make it more dramatic and added some things but the thing that matters is that they hit the main points while making it entertaining and funny -BG
The Simpsons Version of the Oddysey Was very accurate except for the humorous parts of the video
I think that these show how easily The Odyssey can be interpreted. They all have the same story line and characters but the portal is altered to please different audiences. This make me think about who the original poem was written for. The characters are very detailed and have deep personalities that enrich the theme and relationships of the story. The original may not apply to our modern day interests. The morals of the story are still important so people have changed at added a few small parts so people enjoy the story just like they did when the poem was written. Though out all of the different interpretations the story line is still the same that was written so long ago.
I found that the simpsons episode was very similar to the odyssey there was the same story line in the show but with minor tweaks. Like in the episode homer eats the pigs which turn out to be his friends. I think that was a way of poking fun at the story the odyssey. It is the same story exept Homer is not as heroic as Odysseus is in the Odyssey.
The Simpsons video makes the story more of a joke and less horrific and intense. They make all the characters much more dumb and out of it. The relationship between Odysseus and his wife is not as strong. They changed some parts of the story like when the girls were singing and they rejected them instead of the bees wax in the story.
The Simpsons had changed the Odyssey into something that is humorous. They did this be not going into detail and changing the story a little bit. An example of this is when Simpson eats his friends. THey changed the story from all seriousness into something funny.
I like how they make fun of the gods and the sirens. The sirens are ugly in the Simpsons while they are enchanting in the odyssey. They also joke about to Odysseus' weight and he ends up eating all of his crew men when they get turned into pigs.
The Simpson satire most of everything that one thing that caught my eye was the sirens. In the odyssey they were beautiful and lured people in. In the Simpsons they made the song lure them in but once they got close they were "ulgy" they were scared away .
They make fun specifically of the stories with the sirens and Circe. They made the dangers a lot less serious then in the actual poem. "Odessyus" did kill all the suitors when he returned. And there were other elements that the video included.
They missed a lot off things, but they did cover a lot, too. Along with keep the story they stayed with the theme of the show. I can't believe they made this and also made it funny. It was really cool to see the Simpsons do the Odyssey.
The Simpson’s version satirizes about how inconsiderate Odysseus is and clueless about the immortal powers and impact they can have. The show is very similar in the main message from the books from Odysseus however approaches the subjects more in a teasing manner.
The Simpsons version satirize how he was a very selfish person. They also satirize the events that happen such as when they arrive at the island where there are ugly girls. It also humors the men that are trying to marry Odysseus's wife.
In the the Simpson's version of the Odyssey, many things are conspicuously ridiculed. Everything from character relationship and character development, to the journey that Odysseus went through to reach his home is immensely diminished. While Odysseus' character in the poem isn't always the most honorable, his cleverness still shines through in every quandary they get caught up in and by the end of the poem, you can tell that he has developed throughout the poem. In the Simpson's version, Odysseus still has his faults, but none of the redeeming qualities that made Odysseus such a unique type of hero.
Both videos were very very different from the Simpson video shows not or at all respect and does not show what truly what happened. The Odyssey video showed what happened, and they had more respect and they should what truly happened and said was in the books. The Simpson's video satirize's that the thing was fake.
Simpson's video and Odysseus' video were really different because the Simpson's video was funny and they made it as a cartoon. Odysseus' video was serious and it showed real actions and also it was true facts about the Odyssey. The videos made me think that the Simpson's video wasn't true and that it was fake. Then Odysseus' video made me think that it was really true and that it was real.
The Simpson's version of The Odyssey satires when Odysseus reaches the sirens, Circe, and the River Styx. The Simpsons make fun of the poems the most I thought. The Simpsons version makes fun of the bravery of the Odysseus' men and it makes them look stupid instead of brave.
