Some things are the easy definitions. i understand how the odyssey is a trip with many challenges. And that it was created during the 1200 bc during the trojan war. how the strong will pass and will not will under pressure.

The Odyssey came from the Greek hero Odysseus who goes on a voyage after the Trojan war. This trip was filled with many adventures. He battles many mythical creatures and as on his adventure is thrown battles from gods. Odysseus has an ego and that is what makes him known. He loses all his people and his ships on this trip. I don't understand why Odysseus is a god and how he came to go on this trip.

The definition of Odyssey is a long voyage. We all follow our own odyssey, our own way of life. The Warriors of the Iliads were attacking the Greeks as I understand. Odysseus was the head of the Kingdom. He lead a fake horse as a gift in attack that was filled of soldiers. Odysseus goes to an island looking for food, and a cyclops that is a giant eats one of his men. Then, the stab the giant cyclops in the eye and he is angered, scaring the group off of the island. Poseidon represents raw nature. Odysseus gets the word that he shall not ask for immortality and live, returning to home.

The Odyssey is similar because it is a long voyage with many times of fortune. Odysseus is on a grand voyage and a search for a home which has a long trip. The Trojan war starts up the book with the first stories. He was a different kind of hero. He was brave, bold and also a liar. He has to pass a lot of tests to get home.

Odyssey is a long and grueling trip with many sacrifices. It also takes place a very long time ago. It has things do with greek mythology and the trojan war. I think its an interesting concept to make a film about.

I know that the main character led an army in he big horse and attacked Troy and took it over. The main character also is very human-like. He is brave and bold and he lies a lot, the whole story is about him going through and passing certain test to be able to return to his kingdom. Odysseus travels very far and loses ships and all of his men.

The definition of odyssey is a long voyage. This background information makes me think that The Odyssey will be about a terribly difficult voyage and a one that many people will die on. I think that there will be major conflict and war in The Odyssey. Odysseus will be the main character and he will be confronted with many very intense problems. He is often put in such difficult positions that he ponders whether death would be a better option. He will learn a lot throughout The Odyssey.

It is a mythical story and a mythical hero, it is a crazy story. It was based off the trogen war in 1200 bc. If the hero is so heroic then why did he disappear.

The Odyssey is a personal adventure that someone can have. Odysseus Odyssey is tough along the way, but it shows him more things he didn't know.It shows him something better about himself and shows Odysseus that life will have suffering, but it makes everything better.

The Odyssey is about the mythical greek hero Odysseus who goes on a voyage after the debatable Trojan vs Greek war. This trip takes way longer than it should becuase it takes over 20 years. They stop at the island of cyclopes in which they find themselves in a cyclopes cave. The men are being eaen by this creature, so they come up with the great idea of poking it in the eye. They are chased away and once he is far out he said that he poked his eye. This creature´s dad is the god of the sea which makes his trip really hard. They then get six of his men eaten by a different six headed creature. By the end of his voyage all of his men dye and he is the only one to return.

I realize from the video that, the Odyssey is about Odysseus’ journey home and how he encounters multiple life lessons. Some lessons literally being about life, like when he learned he favors mortality and suffering over immortality. The Odyssey is about Odysseus returning home from a trip that was planned to take two weeks; however, the trip took ten years. The video talks about how the people in the book act off of adventure and that they are eager to explore. The journey home for Odysseus was seen as a series of tests that he had to pass to get him back to his wife. Poseidon punishes Odysseus on the sea's for hurting his son and Odysseus's journey and fight continues. Odysseus realizes on his journey himself and he learns to better understand himself as a person. Odysseus is challenged with a lot of choices throughout his journey.

The Odyssey is a grand adventure of one man and it glorifies him extremely. However the themes that run through this book are numerous and I think that it gives the book a very different feel and almost as if you are right there with him and he makes the choices. Also it talks about what it is to live and this really pulls out how you think and what you think about, he has fought, but always had had the humbleness to stick to one theme of getting home. He is also deceiving and doesn't think much, he is a good representation of man, never perfect but in search of it.

the grand dad of all odysseys comes 1000 years before christ. odyssey typically means a journey filled with adventures and hardships. During the trojan war are some of the first stories. Odysseus was brave, bold, a lier and a human. The odyssey is about odysseus' trip back home and he struggles he goes through during it. Instead of two weeks his trip took 10 years (Troy to Ithaca). He runs into a cyclops and he protects Odysseus but not all of his men so they stabbed him in the eye. Cersei turned the men into pigs for behaving badly at the table, "men are pigs." Indiana jones and Odysseus tales are similar in a way. He has many choices such as going past scylla and going to the whirlpool, one will destroy his whole boat or take six of his men. Even after he returns home he faces challenges.

"The Odyssey" is probably going to be about how Odysseus finds his way home and how he overcomes the tests he has to pass. It is also going to be about how he begins to learn he is a human. Odysseus realizes he needs to learn the good things in life and living an how he feels he needs to live. Each challenge/test that he goes through he has to learn a different lesson, and he is given the option to die or not go home, but he keeps going. Odysseus even sacrifices his men and their lives. Penelope even stalls marrying a new man because she has a feeling that he is out there. Odysseus was gone for 20 years before comes back to his home and family.

The Odyssey & The Illiad is one of the first written Adventure books (known). The tales of The Odyssey are tales written with a purpose, there is something to be learned. There is something to be learned; Odicious was on the adventure of a lifetime. There were Explorations and Aventure in the books. “Which is the lesser evil?” Life is a long list of trade-offs and we are all faced with hard decisions like Odicious. Penelope (the wife) postponed the marriage of another man if Odicious didn't return by saying once she finished weaving. Yet, she weaves by day and unweaves by night. One theme of the book is going “home.”

It seems to be a big journey of many stories and philosophy in life. It also seems to be many important parts on life and the life of a Greek soldier. Is an odyssey the entire journey or the journey back to where you have started? It’s seems to be a journey of being human and the problems of human behavior. And what’s it’s like to be human.

The name of the book is named after the main character that wrote the book Odysseus. It is about the adventures of this character. He was warrior in the trojan war. The book is about the return trip home after the war. Instead of it taking 2 weeks it took him ten years because poseidon got mad at him for blinding his cyclops son. So he wondered at sea for 10 years trying to get back home losing all of his ships and all of his men. Everything good comes with a cost.

The Odyssey is a long poem about the adventure of Odysseus. It is full of Greek mythology. The Odyssey tells cool stories about ancient Greek times. Although Greek mythology isn't logical, it still has morals to tell.

the odyssey seems to be about odysseus travels and the problems he faced along the way. and how he thought of himself and others.

I understand that Odysseus was on an adventure on his way home. Odysseus was a liar and in the video it says he was very human. Odysseus's wife is Penelope. The Odyssey is about his travel home and the difficult things he has to get through. It took ten years. Went to the island of the cyclops for food and some of them got eaten by a cyclops giant. They then blinded Polyphemus. Polyphemus's father is Poseidon. Odysseus was the only one left at he end. Poseidon doesn't want Odysseus to get home to torture him. He chooses to be a mortal and wants to live normally. When he gets home finally, he completes Penelope's test disguised as a beggar.

The Odyssey film describes the story of many Greek gods and their stories like the one who made the cyclops blind and how odyssey is human but have a chance to be immortal but he turned it down to hopefully find a good life and survive. This also shows how he fought and survived against gods. He disguised as a beggar and won the competition to marry his wife but its a book and film on his life.

Odyssey is the journey not just of the way we take in our life but is the journey of how we travel and the hardships we have among the way. The Odyssey is a serious of test of how he got home and how the power of actions affects everything you do. The book the Odyssey the film depicts on how many hardships they have to go through to get home. My understanding of the odyssey is how he used his journey to shape him and the book shows how when we have troubles you always have a choice. The book show us that even if it takes 10 years to get home you will still make it home.

What I understand about the Odyssey is that Oddeysus is a cunning man who throughout his odyssey learned what it meant to live is life. As a liar, hero, and moral.

After watching the video about the book Odyssey by Homer, I understand more about the background of Odysseus and his life. In this book, Odysseus faces multiple challenges in order to get home. I now understand that Poseidon was mad at Odysseus because he blinded his son. Thus Poseidon would not let Odysseus home and he sailed the seas for many years. It was expected to take two weeks to return home, but Odysseus made it home 10 years latter. One challenge that Odysseus faces is when he lands on an island with Calypso, the goddess. She offers him immortality if he stays with her. He rejects her offer. Odysseus is constantly told throughout his journey to forget home, to lose hope, and even lose life. I understand that Odysseus is a leader and a hero. He knows his place and is patient despite the circumstances.

In the Odyssey background video you learn about the Odessy. Some of the things I learned about this character or "god" is that he is very powerful. He looks forward to going home and relates to the people on Apollo 13 in this video. There are many people in this world who think they are above the others and who will do anything to protect themselves and get ahead. Odysseys is very egotistical.

In the I can comment it helps me understand the text a little more as I'm more of a visual learner. It kinda shows a different perspective of the story.
