I believe Romeo and Juliet creat their own fate by the decisions they make. When Romeo kills Tybalt his fate is that if he gets caught he will be killed.
I think that choice as well as fate play a big part in Romeo and Juliet. Part of me thinks that the two of them falling in love was fate, and i also think that by falling in love their fate becomes ultimatley that they die. Also lots of choices that they make determine their fate like Connor said. Like Romeo killing Tybalt and Romeo and Juliet choosing to get married.
Romeo and Juliet choose their fate. They had a choice to be married, Romeo had a choice to kill Tybalt, and the father had the choice to marry R and J. So fate really dosnt play apart in this play, excpt for the fate that Romeo and Juliet met. But again, it was Romeos choice to go to the party.
I think that fate overrules choice in Romeo and Juliet. The only fate that really happened was the two of them falling in love. What led to that was Romeo choice to go to the party. Then after that they both choice to secretly get married. There was definitely more choices because the only fate was that they both fell in love, you can't chose to fall in love.
Choice and fate are the guidelines for character direction in Romeo & Juliet. Fate could be many things, but as the story progresses we see how fate has played Romeo & Juliet into each other’s arms. The choices they make from there are what define their future and the continuing action and plat of the story. Every involved character in R&J are directly changed or affected somehow by Romeo & Juliet's choices and how fate brought true love together.
I believe that Choice and fate have a very strong connection as well. If Romeo and Juliet had not chose to be married, than many scenes would have been very different. For instance, Romeo would still be chasing Rosaline, he would have fought Tybalt to begin with and Mercutio wouldnt have died
Like Connor and Kasey both said, I believe that Romeo and Juliet's choices determine their fate. If Romeo hadn't decided to go to the ball in order to get his mind off of Rosaline, then he wouldn't have even met Juliet. In another example if the couple had just decided to tell their families that they wanted to be married, then they wouldn't have had to mess with keeping their marriage a secret which leads to the problems that eventually leads to each of their deaths.

But if it's inevitable does that mean people should have known that Romeo and Juliet would fall in love, should that have been their fate, or does that mean that the inevtable does not always happen. Can fate be changed? I believe this: the role played by fate in this play was that Romeo should have never met Juliet, and against her will Juliet should have married Count Paris, but by some unexplained miracle, the tables turned and their fates were changed.
romeo's choice to kill tybalt as revenge for tybalt's choice to kill mercutio, changed his fate from him and juliet being happy and married, to romeo being banished to mantua and juliet having to marry paris.
I think that Roemo and Juliet chose to get married because they have alternative reasons such as trying to forget about Rosaline and trying to lose Paris. Weather they really love each other is still not known, but it appears so. Fate plays a huge role because Romeo and Juliet go behind their parents back and get married so it is fate that the parents of Juliet expect her to marry Paris. It is also fate that they meet at the masque and fall in love and Romeo finds Juliet asleep and thinks she is dead and ends up killing himself.
Well I think that all of the actions of Romeo and Juilet were choices except for when they fell in love with each other. A person can not help who they fall inlove with so their for, I belive that it was fate. I also think that it was fate when Romeo and Juliet were at the same party. Their familes are worst enemys but yet they still manage to end up at the same party! That is fate.
Despite the other comments, I believe it was fate that caused Romeo and Juliet's death. Though I don't believe fate exists in our world, Shakespeare clearly wanted his audience to believe fate existed in the fictional world of Verona, or he wouldn't have constantly mention that the lovers were 'star crossed' or their fate was 'hanging in the stars'. If you believe this, then they make the decisions they make because of their unavoidable fate.
